Just a little update.......
After me writing to the DVLA about a month or so ago, I finally received a call from a guy at VOSA about it (so the DVLA just forwarded the letter onto VOSA, even though the DVLA told me to write to THEM after i'd already spoken to VOSA three times).
Part of what this guy just told me I already knew, eg: that it's the DVLA that decide whether or not a modified car fits into its 'radically-altered' category and hence would require a SVA test by VOSA..
He said this class of car would most likely be held in the 'amateur built' category and would thus require assembly and testing by them based on the regulations of the category. He said it'd require many detailed build photos along the way for them to 'approve' of it, at least. He also admitted that the process is deliberately complicated because the government doesn't want modified vehicles on the road!
So now i've got to write this guy an email outlining the plan so he can then produce an official comment from VOSA and provide the relevant documentation as to what guidelines need to be followed for the build.
Bit of a nightmare to say the least, however it's better doing it now rather than sinking £20k into something only for it to then be banned from the roads!
