Good Riddance to it aswell.
My friend bought this for 1700.00, it has already been posted up on Fiestaturbo by another one of my mates, on my account ( and subsequently got me banned ) so i thought id post it up here seeing as ive had both accounts blocked on there
Anyway he purchased this car, 30 hours later it was dead.
A few days later, we set about repairing it as it wasnt suprisingly that bad.
4 square rims
bent rear beam
bent front coilover
snapped lower arm
smashed power steering rack
side skirt
wing
wing mirror
So we set about are way, new lower arm, as this was the old one..
Then we went to do steering rack, got one of the bolts out the other one undid, then span, wouldnt undo, wouldnt do up.
The only way to get to it is rip out the carpet, cut a hole in the floor, grip the captive nut with grips while someone else undoes it from underneath, the dash had a stupid great hole in it from a TV, so we ripped out the dash.
What a frigging mess, the TOAD alarm, was bound round and inside every nook and crannie of the dashboard, took us an hour to get the dash out properly.
Then came up the carpet, then the horror set in, sadly i dont have pics of but i will get some tommorow.
The underlay was saturated, and it didnt come off in one piece, it was all stuck to the rotten floorpan, and came off in clumps, there was a fist size hole in the drivers side corner, on the passenger side, the same but so big my friend put his hand through and i shook hands with him from the inside of the car ! Plus three more big holes in the wheelarch area.
The scariest was the passenger seat mounting point, all i had to do was whack it with a lump hammer, and it crumbled to the ground below :O
So then we decided to definately re shell it.
Remove most of the bits and decided to batter the piece of junk.
Filler was 1/4 inch thick on the rear quarters and arches, and 1/2 inch thick on the wing bottoms ( holding the wings together ) there is no sill at all on the drivers side underneath the side skirt, i pulled it off in one piece.
Truly shocking, and all from a car with 11 months MOT.
My friend is not happy at all but thats his problem, sold as seen an all that..
Its my job of reshelling it.
Found some horrors in the engine bay too...
Split fuel hose
Coilpack not bolted down
Rad hose clips and switch loose
i had to use a torque wrench to loosen the thermostat housing bolts, ( thought they would snap in the head )
battery was loose
cableties everywhere
loads more.
Truely a rotten, bodged, piece of shit. lesson learnt.
RIP.
Engine will live on in another more sturdier shell as will most of the other items.
