hi people

i had new pads nd discs about 2k ago the discs have only just started to get a lip on them and the pads are worn about half way i would say .
previously the pads were squeeking really badly so i cut a groove down the centre of pads so that the brake dust went into the gaps and this sorted the problem.

but recently i notice a noise it could have always been there just i always have music up loud lol !

its like a clicking noise under braking ! click click click and then at certain speeds say under 10mph it will stop but when braking at higher speeds i dont think it happens then. the pedal doesnt seem to be pulsating or anything so im little stumped as to wat it could be ? it doesnt seem to affect braking at all !

also i dunno i cant remember now but wat would happen if i fitted abs discs to my non abs si lol ?

i think system needs bleeding and also handbrake is stickin but i dont think these are linked !

hi ,

that was recommend by lecturer and also mechanic as a way of stopping the squeeking i was having from pads . and pads like greenstuff who have cut slit . its down centre and i have had it on the brake tester and the braking effect was increased !

so not stupid !

Greenstuff make the pads like that, they have been designed and tested like that and just because they have done that doesn't mean the friction compund and structure are the same so as i said it is very dangerous. I have been a mechanic on Cars & 44t Trucks for 25yrs so i also think i have an idea what i am talking about too. Messing with the design of brakes is dangerous and irresonsible unless it is a thoroughly tested design by the company who supplied and manufactured the brake pads. Anyway i have offered my possible solution and i will leave it at that for you to struggle along.
