Now the question being, to spray.. or not to spray my 5 door fiesta.

The thing is, to complete it, I will need most bits spraying anyway..

But that costs money, and will need a full respray which I have been told I can get done for ÃƒÆ’Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â£500-ÃƒÆ’Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â£600 off my long time friends dad who is a pro sprayer and will do it cheap for me.

But then it comes into mind that 1, its 13 years old and it had tiny rust bits, which have mostly been sorted, nothing major tho

and 2, save the bloody money and get a decent car (as say most people)

So yeah, the car is solid as we have checked it all over, just the tiny bits which i have near enough sorted.

So for the sake of ÃƒÆ’Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â£600 and a 2.0ltr engine, I could have the fiesta finished completely how I want it..

If I don't do it, it will be pointless finishing it and would sell most non standard bits and run it into the ground...

Hmmm..

i am going to attempt a DIY job on my xr2i, i am going to practice with the primer and see how that goes, if it goes shit then i will get a friend to do it[lol]

Yeah I've thought about it, but getting the equipment and all the paint is a faff if i mess it up..

I'm doing the prep work myself with fillering and primering them bits up

I'll see.. its quite possible that i'll have a go myself, but I don't have anywhere decent to do it either lol

For the ÃƒÆ’Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â£500 to pay my mate to do it sounds worth while when put like that.. i'll have to see I guess lol

i got my compressor of ebay ÃƒÆ’Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â£75 delivery from germany, works a treat, had it over a year now, u can buy the primer, paint, thinners for ÃƒÆ’Ã¢â‚¬Å¡Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â£100 off ebay, its good stuff, i'm alway 1 to try it my self before getting the "experts" in

Yeah I can see how that would be good if I managed to pull it off alright.

I might borrow my mates compressor and spray gun and have a go on my rear bumper for now and see how it turns out..

I need a good guide for spraying tho, I know the basics in theory, but not what to do after each coat and what ever else

in between each coat rub it down (lightly) with some 600 grit paper

i usually give 3 coats of primer, 1st one being a slight dusting

rub down between each coat

then spray ur colour, 2 or 3 coats as required

Tay something or other would be the man to ask, he works in a bodyshop

usually dries pretty quick, i wait around 20-30 minutes between coats, when u go to put the colour on leave it a day or so to make sure the primer is properlly dry and hardened
