Stupid cars fault. Although, bless it, it means I can lounge all day instead of working my fingers to the bone!

I got within 5miles of Leicester and the battery light came on and it went into limp-home mode. No electrics, no power steering, nowt! Rang my mechanic mate and asked what to do, he said get home before the battery runs out. So I did. After 0.5 seconds deliberation. I had an alternator on it about 10days ago and it's been funny since, not charging properly and not starting. Sadly it's really intermittent, so somedays it will be fine then others it'll cough at me and say 'pish off'. I think the alternator is faulty so I'll take it down after I've had a sausage sandwich and the works breakfast. Haaa!

Hate stupid little problems like that. Sounds like the alternator is dodgy or it's not been put on properly though. Sort it ouuuuuuuut!

i would say auxilary belt but IIRC you have electric steering on the 106?

Yeeah. It's easy to work on. There's plenty of room on my drive for maneuvering with cups of tea. Not sure what it's like in the engine bay, I'll let my mate do that.

I'll sort it out later when I've had a sit down. My bottom was twitching all the way home, especially on the motorway roundabouts, I was expecting it to conk out then, but it didn't bless it.

i had a similar thing, was coming on and when i booted it it got dimmer, one day my battery light was on all the way home

i was sh*tting it, waiting for it to day on the motorway,i got home,just.

found out i hadn't done the nut on the starter up tight enough andit worked itself loose[red][lol]

Mmmm, Alton Towersness.

Took it down to the auto-electrian and he's pretty confident its the alternator again, whip it off and he'll do it tomorrow. I enquired about the MAF but it seems that the MAF is only responcible for 99.9% of problems. Sadly the aux belt tensioner snapped when I tried to whip it off! So now I have to faff to get the damn thing on. Stupid thing
