Ive got a toad on mine. The ability to smooth everything off, i.e door popers? those could be addapted to work on pretty much any alarm.

CLiford are ok, but ive heard of far too many going wrong (mine went wrong) and also i know a fair few cars that had one fitted and when it was broken into the alarm never sounded. I dont know about cobra, but viper offer a good cat1 system with like a pager thing, which is great if your at the back of your house, as lots of peopel dont hear the alarm going off.

As for fitting, get it done by a proper company, or someone with a good reputation. I had my toad fitted by someone of ebay, it was a company from bristol and appart from a very poor profeshionalism, he smashed my windscreen and the wiring was done very poorly. I will have to have it re-wired at some point as it was done so badly.

I knew this would come up. I have only ever had Clifford. There is NAFF all wrong with them.

An alarm is only as good as the fitter.

Des is right. i bet about 90% off all faults with car alarms come down to the skills, or lack of, of the the fitter.
Mine has a toad. Matts has a clifford, both work well and do their purpose

I had tilt sensors, dual shock, proximity (beeps when someone gets very close to the car) , dual shock added on my alarm, which have already saved my alloys. Alarms do make a difference, it means it will be a smash and grab, instead of htem willing to take their time getting your gear out.

I think it is viper who offer a paging system, its a cat 1 alarm and the problems with alarms is that if your at the back of your house you wont hear it, but with this it will let you know. good feature imo.

Oh yeh, and get the alarm hooked up to your horn. That way it attracts more attention when it goes off as its far more annoying, lol!
