Hi Guys,

As some of you may know i am currently building up a Series 2, 2.0L Zetec Engine for the standard Si conversion.

However, i use my car quite a lot and am in a bit of a pickle as to what gearbox/driveshafts to use? :-?

I was going to use the standard Si gearbox at first, but after hearing several horror stories with them not lasting long, I am now not so sure. I want to do it all properly and was wondering if a standard Escort RST gearbox (With LSD) would be a straight swap for the Si box to the Zetec? Or will it need modification? Also are the gear ratios a lot longer than the Si alternatives? As I will definately be wanting acceleration over top speed. Anymore gearboxes that would suit the bill? The LSD would be handy to have from a handling point of view, but is not essential.

I JUST NEED A RELIABLE GEARBOX FOR THE POWER OUTPUT OF THE 2.0L, WHICH FAVOURS ACCELERATION OVER TOP SPEED.

Any help would be very much appreciated guys, many thanks

i think any BC box will fit (IIRC)

the s2 ERST box fits.. with LSD i know that much

Oh right cheers buddy...

Is there any chance you could define the BC box for me please, becaust I don't the difference between that one and the IB5 gearbox???

Also, if I was to use the driveshafts taken from an ERST box, would these fit the mk3.5 hubs/would they be the right length also?

Any BC 'box dude.
Maybe try and look for one off a escort 105ps xr3i.
then get the lsd of S2 box put in it

Im running a S2 box now. Ratios seem to be good, bout 40 in 1st 70 in 2nd which is great for dragging out lol, 100 in 3rd 125ish 4th and 5th will go off the the clock. my speeding was saying 135 at about 5 and a bit revs.

Hopefully will help mpg on motoway.

what woudl you say its like compared to the Si box, if you have used one??
I am tempted by the S2 but dont want the ratios much longer than what i have currently in the Si box.
