hi my mate is seriously interested in an xr2i but it has been sorn for a while and by sounds of it the guy said some engine trouble


what im wondering am i able to tow the car back to where i live which is in surrey which is roughly 2hr drive from where the car is located

the has neither mot or road tax! ???

legally thinking wat sort of trouble could i get into

and are you allowed to tow cars on motorways ?

It is legal to tow on the motorway with an A frame type bar, but illegal for anything else.

I towed my Fiesta back home 130 miles, with a bar and the Sierra. I rang my local police to check on a few things and they said i cant go on the motorway and shouldnt but its technicaly not illegal to) go above 45mph, however i was quite happily hitting 60mph on some of the open deul carrigeways. My car was taxed and insured and MOT'ed but I asked about tax and MOT etc anyway, and they said that it wouldnt be a problem. But you are not allowed on the road at all, even parked, if your cars not taxed, so im not sure on that one.

Get a trailer or the RAC to do it.

You need to have all vehicles that are on the public road insured, MOT(if applicable to age of vehicle) and road taxed. Garages can use trade plates for all this but no one else can, you are not allowed to borrow trade plates either, so the only option you have is a trailer mate........what happens if someone hits your un-insured car being towed? You haven't got any insurance which means you are liable for prosecution.

Just some things to think about.
