i have been talking to tom online and he pointed me in the direction of another thread, which i have seen before

but this time i decided that i would save the pictures to show you guys/girls how clean the engine bay of the xr2i turbo was 8-)

i will go through the other threads and save the picture from them as well, tom is also going to be giving me a cd with all the pictures he has of the car, so when i get that i will add them to this thread 8-)

Matt I have my Mother, Uncle and Girlfriend all telling me not to waste my money on it as it will only end up breaking down and being scrapped.. they don't understand that it will be fine, especially if i finish it :rolleyes:

onslack I've helped my mate weld my exhaust one day, so I know how to use the MIG, just don't know whether I could be trusted alone with it.. same with the grinder and my rear arch.. chunk out of it.. well at least the rust has all gone :oooh:

edit: car looked tasty :insanity:

i think it souds like a pigeon :lol:

, and talking about garages/sheds full of car bits, at one point i had:

5 wheels with tyres,
an xr2i bumper,
a zetec head and manifolds,
2bottles of oil
an old oily alternator
a pas pump,
and all the surplus mondeo 2.0 bits
mum was not impressed :lol:

last night i decided to attack the rear qauters to see what was going on, and to get an idea of how much rust there is/was so i could work out what panels i need :look:

so here are some pictures i took last night.

i will be purchasing a DA soon so i am going stripping the rear quaters down to bare metal 8-)

i all i did last night was do a bit of rubbing down so that i could see what was filler and what wasn't

My new bonnet, that i am going to have leuvers(sp?) pressed into it

this bonnet is going to be a temp fix as i want to search for a frst one

i rubbed down a litte bit of the rear quater panel and found a bit of fillet, hopefully its not too bad, i will hopefully find out more on friday

rubbed down some of thearea around the door( B pillar i think its called :rolleyes:

) and all seems ok

i rubbed down the rear aches as this area was my main concern, and they seem in quite good nick, but i am going to get a second opinion, i dont trust mine :lol:

i also rubbed down the area around the petrol cap and apart from the hole below it the petrol cap area doesn't look too bad, but i think i am goinf to cut it out and replace it

i am thinking of putting a mk3.5 petrol cap area on :look:

i rubbed down the driver side rear wheel arch and found this patch of rust, so i will replace this with a new wheel arch

i rubbed down the area near the driver door as there was some filler there, there was quite a bit, i think it might had a ding or something there, but i will as for a seconf opinion on what i should do with that area, i would like to cut it out and replace it

apart from the little patch of rust that i found the rest of the wheel arch seems to be ok :look:

Is the boot on properly there though - looks like quite a large gap?

coming on well dude. not sure the xr bumper suits the mk4 rear TBH. maybe try mk4 rear, or Z-s rear
it's good to see someone taking the time to do things properly
