slightly disappointed this morning!

Went out last night, out and about, as you do. pulled off outta a car park, and because it was wet, it did a little wheelspin! All of a sudden, i couldn't get any gears, then it stalled.

I was totally confused what had happened with the fiesta. i checked on the carpark, and no bits dropped out or anything (gearbox etc).

So tried starting it up again, it wouldnt turn over! so i was panicing at this stage. blush02.gif so i did the next best thing, and rang my dad (whos a mechanic) to see if he could get it running again fairly quickly, because hes normally good at doing that! He spent about 20 minutes looking around the engine, but still it wasnt running.

He came to the conclusion that there is no spark when turning the ignition. But i cant understand how it could be perfectly fine one minute, and totally knackered the next!

Anybody had this problem before with theirs? Also, what could the fault be, and where should we start checking in the engine bay, for possible connection problems? (wires, connectors fallen out etc)

Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Christ, could be a whole host of things.

I suppose the obvious and easiest thing to do first would be to check all the wires going to alternator, starter motor, battery, all the sensors. Just give it a check over to make sure nothing is out of place.

Then I suppose it would be onto the gearbox. Get under the car and make sure that's still all connected up as it should be, driveshafts still in, no bolts loose or missing. I'd be inclined to say to take off the gearbox and inspect the clutch aswell, but when you say the car wont even try to start it's a bit worrying.

Do you get any dash lights come on?
Does it tick when trying to start it up?
Does it turn over at all?
Does your clock LED flash when you get in and put ignition on?
Do you hear the fuel pump prime up when you put ignition on?
Are your pedals still ok (clutch pedal still go down as normal)?

You need to get out to it and do some more investigation work

I think the raging tappets inploded and took the life and soul out of the engine with them
