Possibly the most mixed up question ever but:
- How do you know the thermostat is working if the fan isn't cutting in?
- If the thermostat is broken, the fan wont cut in, therefore the fuse can be fine as as far as the fan is concerned, it's not hot yet.
- If the thermostat isn't opening, then no water will flow to the radiator therefore it's bound to get hot isn't it?
- How long did you drive without any water in it after it had blown the hose? Chances are you've blown the head gasket if it's any length of time.
- Antifreeze not only allows the water to stay in it's liquid state well below the natural freezing point of water but allows it to run much hotter than the boiling point of water. I think naturally your car runs around 90-120degrees, so antifreeze is essential to the cooling system of your engine.
