after the last track day couple weeks ago when broke the gearbox getting stuck in third. i stripped the gearbox to find a stray bolt which is ment to be securing the slector, dont know if its a bolt i had out when fitting the LSD or just one of those things but also broke a weld in a slector rod, so looks like its a replacement box

Done another track evening last night and broke the gearbox again! Was going well until ended up without 5th and reverse, went flat out from 4th to 3rd instead of 5th twice with it bouncing off the rev limiter! After the evening so fed up considering breaking it for parts, but a day later thinking how the fez happily fly passed Clio 197s and other hot hatches may repair again

I've not given up on it yet, got a replacement gearbox off a high spec RS turbo escort already fitted with a LSD, think it may be a diesel box from the different ratios so Will have to wait to see what it's like. I've already fitted it just got to weld a patch on the inner cill then book another track day

Replacement gearbox all fitted, cills all welded up agsin, whe apart found water pump leaking so replaced thy along with a new cam belt so hopefully all good to go for rest of the year!

Quick question, what trailer is that you've got? Looks nice and short (ie light) but ideal for the Fez and a twin axle so nice and stable.

Trackday booked for next Tuesday evening, it's with Burton power so hopefully a few good Ford's there, hopefully gearbox works ok be interesting to see what ratios are like as I'm sure it's a diesel one,

Si went well Tuesday evening, pitty I couldn't get the gopro to work as would been good footage pushing a poorly driven GT3 and overtaking round the twisty bits. My suspicion is the replacement gearbox is a diesel one and got great for track work and kept jumping out of 2nd gear! So was a case of holding gear leaver in 2nd position and driving round 3 corners one handed.
