big update from yesterday

went to sophie's uncles garage to use his ramp to change a split cv boot

then turned up at moles to fit new rear seats, fit cold air feed, take off all turbo hoses and inspect turbo

arrived (the lazy git was asleep)

Engine Work:

We took the hoses off and inspected for oil - there was none

the oil that had been in the crossover and top hoses was sat in the bottom off the chargecooler - so I got that out by dipping in kitchen roll 1,000 times

Turbo had no play which is a win

So it looks like the breathers were struggling? either way we took all the boost hoses, breather hoses and air filter hose off and cleaned them in soapy water to remove any gunk

However I do wish you would snip those bloody tie wraps! It's troubling my OCD

Dave - those tie wraps maybe coming off altogether hate them

Alex: How would I know it is breathing heavily? Also - any ideas on improving breather setup?

was relieved to say the least

Going to be modifiying the breather asap didn't get a chance this weekend

Having a chat with a few people yesterday about a few things - so will see where I go for future management

first up - parked the other way around






Then the serious business of changing the breather setup

removed old setup and there was oil in there

inlet breather blocked off


new air filter setup



catch tank has both rocker breathers going to it now



runs better like this
