I have my new springs and shocks now after being told they would take 3 days to come and it turned out to be over 3 weeks in the finish, along with a pair of steering rack gaiters as i noticed the old ones had split since i fitted the new track rod ends.

So my checklist before i can attempt to mot it is too, finish off the re-cat :(. underseal it again after the winter. fit the new springs and shocks so i dont scrub anymore and then fit the old escort softline wheels because the front camber has killed the tyres.

Time wise i will be happy as long as it's run in and set up before ford fair but that all depends on how i want to build it. I would love to build it properly and have it on jenveys with proper standalone management but i cant justify the costs. so i'm leaning towards a bike carb kit from chester sportscars simply because i wont be using the car everyday, they are pretty local too me so if i have any problems they arn't too far away. Running it on the cast inlet is a final resort really because it would be a shame when the short engine has been built to take more.

Why remove the 1.8? i have always wanted a 2.0 ever since i had my silver mk3 which i still regret getting rid off. i could put the 1.8 to 130 spec but realistically how many make 130 brake these days now the engines are getting older, it wanted bits and bobs doing like the stem seals ect that are normal for an engine of this age. i bought the 2.0 from rs200bhp last December as a reconditioned short engine with a head and a big box of bits to put it back together.

I don't think i have been too a meet in this yet though.
