Wow, just read through this today. Cracking results with it, and your seem to be a dab hand at getting round the track

Done a trackday at Donington yesterday, early start at 4am but great weather and well worth it. Going through first part of Craner curves flat out in 4th was an experience. Fiesta ran great all day just need to sort out fitting a short as had a few missed gears, also had fitted some new yellow stuff pads, terrible till bedded in which took two sessions but after that were great.

last time out the gear linkage was getting sloppy and difficult selecting 3rd gear swiftly, so decided to try fit a short shift mod. Got a escort mk4 modification kit as looks similar to Mk3 fiesta but not a straight forward replacement as the fiesta gear leaver is knurled at the bottom not splined like escort so lever pivot point could not easily be extended, had to split it araldite and bolt it back on. Previously done the 'zetec inside' linkage mod to but replaced that also with new 8mm spacer tubes and bolts and now loads better and no slack.
Previously the gear lever had a 160mm forward back movement 3rd to 4th, this is now reduced to approx 110mm. gear selection also feels so much more positive.

Just fitted a small 3 gallon fuel tank, but while under the car noticed a crack in the main chassis rail behind the rear beam mount, i think its as a result of running slicks and the extra forces it puts through the chassis. bodywork is getting poor with rust in usual arches etc.
Question is do i scrap it a buy something else like the ebay link below, or patch it up or worse case try find a sound fiesta or ex race shell and swap all the bits

Weld her up good an strong and wait for the next bit to break, then repeat!

Might make the car a bit heavier, but at the end it'll be bullet proof

Seriously though, I'd patch her up and keep an eye on it, might just've been a weak point that would ahve gone anyway.

fiesta is all coming back together nearly finished welding up, also made some 1 degree rear camber shims to work better with the slicks.
made from 3mm plate hand grinded, filed and sanded, measured true and flat within 0.05mm

amazing how much rust the plastic XR2i skirts can cover, finally cut out the last of rust this weekend and now all welded up, arches sprayed, just got to fit sills and arches and all finished.

finally finished the Si today, put smaller fuel tank, sills and arches back on after standing on drive for 6 months started first time too. Can visually see the increased rear camber but not really captured in photos.
Now to book some trackdays but they seem to gone up to stupid prices this year, may be the last year for the fiesta, looking at buying another motorbike for trackdays or gearbox Kart again.
