I dunno whether this actually counts as a "technical problem" so it can go in here, and get moved if needs be.

Does anyone know whether the physical fittings of a Granada alternator will drop straight onto a Mk4 Zetec engine? Are Ford alternators all the same, fittings but just different internals?

It's just something I've always wondered, and will probably need to know if I have any issues with my sub. Would it be worth having the bigger alternator to keep the battery topped up.

Shouldn't have any problems then? I know the Big G said he never had any light dipping on his, and he's fiiting mine. Suppose it's all down to how it's wired in.

Just for future reference, would one fit anyway?

in my last fez, the standard alternator kept up with my 15" competition sub and amp and that was very loud

I went down to my garage to price up a new battery the other day, and my mechanic turned me away saying, seriously save your cash till you have a problem :)
