Wow It's been an awfully long time since I was on this site, so new job and getting a year older and wiser Hahaha I decided I would try for the car ive been wanting a while. few insurance quotes later and I was practically ready to buy a WRX STI classic shape, when I thought I would try one last time at the insurance and tell them I had actually bought the car and suddenly my quote gained £1500 which would bring it to a grand total of £3k a year. I tried to get insured on a newer shape, quote then dropped £500, which got me thinking I would try to then get insured on the bugeye model, which I must confess I wasn't over keen on it the first time I saw it in the flesh, I went to the Famous Scooby clinic to nearly be ripped off, I was offered a car running 280 bhp with full exhaust and few other mods for a cool £3k, the car when I went to test drive had all the mods taken off but then had also gained £500 but and I quote "they would be more than happy to install mods and should have an exhaust for £300 somewhere" upon leaving I spotted a WRX about 1hr 30mins away for a cool £2800 with a full private plate. As the car had a tracker fitted and Cat 1 I thought I would try the insurance again, this time £950 As I arrived the car was in not to bad a condition, loads of stonechips on the bonnet, but all scoobies that are driven have, full exhaust up to the 2nd cat and alloys off the blobeye, full DV and samco hoses.

Ive had the car about 6 months and I love it, full custom remap so the car now runs a smooth 280bhp, was 290bhp and 300 torque but always the clutch started to slip so had the power turned down till new clutch is fitted. Full morrettes with HiD Projectors, Hate them or love them but I really like the unique look it gives. and loads of other bits and bobs like decat, and Gauges, as always I wont bore you with words.

Not a huge fan on the Blob/Bug eye myself, but you can't see them when you are in the hot seat and irrespective of the headlights it'll still piss all over much more expensive cars

My mate at work has a Hawk eye STi in Black and its loverly!! He pays just over a grand for his insurance so I did a quote with my old git details, 8 years NCB and wife on it..... it came out the same price as my Si He was almost sick!! But then I can't afford to buy the car so it's all a mute point.
Do love a scooby, and would love to buy one but my missus agrees with Percy you chav!!

If its Scooby it has to be mica blue, and I do like the hawkeye especially the limited edition in black, but my real love is RB5 in grey, insurance is literally pot luck I afraid a friend lives just round the corner and he has 1 more years no claims and for him to insure my car its £3k lol, I think the reason blob and bug are cheaper to insure is down to the simple fact they arnt liked a real lot by the Subaru world, mine has grown on me massively and I love it even more since I had pops and bangs mapped in the best car I have come against is the Mk2 RS and I have to say the AWD gave me a massive advantage. Full credit goes to mt mate as him and his missus are pro photographers Haha I get branded it a lot, but I can't hear the haters over the Subaru burble, the DV and the the loud bang as I shift gear .

Warm more and more to these the older I get. Good value for money, great sound and look good.

I've only ever heard bad things about this "Scooby Clinic" place.

So at what torque/power does the standard clutch typically start slipping then?

Tidy car mate. Im not a massive bug eye fan but they are great fun to drive

Honestly Scooby Clinic is great for second hand parts awful for everything else unless you really know them and my wallet doesn't stretch far enough to know them and don't worry as I don't do many miles for work this is my daily

As for the standard clutch it will take over 300 bhp and 300 torque, but someone cant stop launching it
