A reliable 200 bhp should be easy if the work has already been done to the engine to make it good for boost and reliability. Zetec engines are pretty damn strong and can take a fair amount of abuse, don't forget that.

People overseas whack turbo's on 1.8 escorts and just boost them to the max and they seem to last for ages

It's not like you'll use all 200 ponies all day, they are just there for when you do want them

I'm not sure about the rods being the same or not, I've never looked into that. But I know that standard silvertop rods and ARP bolts will be good for 250 bhp, maybe a little more - Ian Howell has said this at some point in the past.

I believe he used to run 2.0 ZT builds on standard rods at some point in the early days, and those engines was kicking out 300 bhp, so they can't be all that bad. But steel rods are cheap enough to use them now, so that's why he uses them, plus the engines these days are pretty mental spec too.

That suggests more that they are the same, but best way to check would be Microcat to see if the ford part numbers are the same.

Yeah part number search might be the best way. All ARP bolts are the same on the silvertop engines.

Post a question on the techy thread over on ft and see what they say, a lot of them will know no doubt

Shame about the feature, I know Grants Diesel got put in there and that was standard but had BBS and smoothed etc. And Robs Mk7 which only had a mountune kit, Lodgy's ZS 151bhp, They all had a fair bit of work done but they weren't exactly mental powerhouses,

I would assume its the uncommon fiesta shape and styling they don't like? As the engines had enough work to be featured tbh.

well performance ford say i'm 99% there for a full feature - they want me to tell them how march 14th goes as they admitted they misread it's a 1.6 turbo they thought i meant it had been converted to a 1.8/2.0
