about time i updated this

not a great deal has been done to the saph recently but with my snowboarding holiday getting closer i thought id best put my xbox control down and get some work done!

first up was to complete the strip down of my head so i could have it dropped off for checking over while i was away on holiday

first up the inlet was removed

this is where things start to get a little interesting/disturbing

while removing the exhaust manifold i could hear some chining noises from the back of the head, i had a fish around in one of the head bolt holes and felt what i thought was washer!!

on closer inspection i saw it then proceeded to root the little fucker out with my fingers (couldnt find a magnetic jobbie thingy) anyways after some more rooting around 7 of the little turds appeared from inside my head..... (pic only shows 6)

now as you can see some look a little battered.... nothing really clicked until i started to remove the tappets and found this...

my head was dropped off to have a check over

* Heli Coils on the cam caps and tensioner stud
* Valve stem seals
* tappet bores

the guy found another 2 washers in my head, so thats 9 in total!!

i need to pop and see him this week to confirm stuff, but i think my heli coils were ok, valve stem seals need replacing and i need new spring washers.

he needs a new set of tappets to make sure the tappet bores in the head are ok

so hopefully i have been very lucky with this, only place and time i can think of that these washers came from was from when my bottom end went and i have ARP stud and nut kit!! but im sure most/all my studs have thier washers in the shed ( i need to check this)

i nevere heard anything moving about when the engine was put together the last time and just assumed the broken bits of tappet in my sump was from my old set when my cam snapped! F.M.L

Shopping list has already started for the rebuild, gonna be full steam ahead when it all arrives, i just need a hand from my ginger partner in crime to drop my sump and clear it out again and we're ready to roooock

It's a good job you don't have a heavy right foot really! They are shot to pieces

yeah your right, its a good job i "needed" to remove the head to have things checked over because i would never have known until something else failed, like my bottom end
