still made a good power figure after all these years of not knowing

i would have changed the management but i just had to stop spending on the car after it had taken a small fortune already. Hopefully Adam will get this changed in time and make it even better than it is at the mo

164 is better than I thought, I agree leave it alone because if that engine goes bang it wont be unique anymore, thats plenty of power for a mk3 while keeping it reliable.

to be honest i would probably change the management if the funds are available as this will give better control over whats going on but still keep the boost low enough to stay reliable

but at the end of the day it is now Adam's car so the choice will be down to him.

still pretty pleased with that power figure considering everyone says the 1.6 is not good for tuning :chill:

Yeah I was impressed with that figure actually, being from a 1.6 too. Just needs a few little tweaks here and there and it'll be pretty good. Should be able to get a few more ponies out of it

as has been said it did really well ! i guessed at 142bhp and to be fair i was close to the 'at the wheel' figure but i tad off the fly wheel power haha .. lee said it was VERY lean on a first look and upped the fuel to make it safe. then it made the 164.1bhp with it being a tad rich at the lower end of the revs and getting lean again after 5k but with boost still at 8psi. wont write too much as ill leave that to meilack but as the rest have discussed it needs proper management to control fueling as its still not 100% but the injectors have nothing left to give :thumbsup: the car drives so smoothly and faultlessly-ish AND has the pull and power to be fun. its awesome :D :thumbsup:

Well today has been interesting :lol:

Got to Sams at 8am as the M25 was empty - then we headed on down to Lee @ Devil Developments - we were half hour early so went to the burger van - he got it on the ramp then set the car up :)

He said it was originally running to lean with an AFR of 13 - this was causing det!

So he adjusted the fuelling but the injectors are maxxed out and the management does not give lee the control he wants on the fuelling - so it made 164,1bhp and 175lb.ft but it is running to rich low down and leaning out past 5500rpm due to the injectors

Speaking to Lee he said there are 3 options:

1 - new management
2- RS turbo ecu with custom chip which could be expensive
3 - or £500 for a aftermarket fuel ecu fitted if i supply subaru impreza injectors :) - the management on there is fine for the timing and running of the engine

So option 3 will be done asap - lee reckons 200bhp is easily attainable - but i will aim at 180-190bhp to keep it reliable!

Sorry, but you know I'm going to question you :P no hard feelings as I have your best interest at heart :insanity:

Engine management is supposed to deal with everything or be capable of dealing with everything by way of add-ons (boost by gear, traction control, etc.) so why is it a whopping £500 JUST for fuel management?

Isn't Omex 600 like £600 ?

And why Scooby injectors, are they the done thing? (I can't speak as I have 510cc Evo injectors) You'll need to make sure they have been cleaned before use too, so you may find off the shelf RC injectors are better bang for buck (and worth more in the long run if you ever decide to downgrade before you sell on to make more money back - wish I went down that route) - also make sure your fuel pump is up to the job,

I'm only saying because I genuinely care, and I've been duped by going down a cheaper management route that has the "same features" as the proper stuff, yet only realised until afterwards that the tuner was after my future business as the reason the management was cheap was due to him only able to access the tune/ROM to re-tune and adjust for future modifications and nobody else, unlike the more open / better management out there.

This Lee guy may be well known, but I would speak to a few other tuners and get their opinion on it all without name dropping Lee @ DD.

I would stick with Lee's aim of 200bhp if I were you, I mean he knows it's your daily road car so why would he do ANYTHING that could/would make it unreliable in the slightest? :) It's not up to him to offer unreliable figures from the off, it's up to the customer to ask the car to be pushed and then be provided a figure.

lee gave me 3 options - it is upto me what i do ;)

Sam was there also and seemed to agree unless i find a OFAB management and chip which isn't to expensive to setup - or i guess cossie management is an option - lee is happy with the timing of the car and how it generally runs - it's the fuelling system which is struggling.

subaru impreza injectors were suggested as they are side fed injectors which are needed for a zetec - as opposed to the usual CVH Beiges path everyone goes down :)
