an ecu to control the VVT properly is going to cost well over 1k, without a loom :shock:

Could you not run it on an ST170 ecu? Even if its just for now to get it up and running then save some cash up over the coming months and then get the required ecu. I personally would just ditch the engine and put some holes in the floor and go flintstone style... :lol:

the standard st170 ecu iirc cant be mapped and its so tangled in with other shit that not one bothers with it and goes straight to aftermarket stuff :doh:

i might as well do that, it'll still be quicker than alex's saph :lol: :shock:

Makes sense really Mr T. Checked on places like locostbuilders? I know a few of them guys have done st170 engine jobs in kit cars so maybe one of them might have an ECU laying around.

Iv read about trouble gwtting vvt to work properly, mainly turbo builds, they tend to get it to kick in at a certain rpm rather than how its meant to standard.

True that! Delete kit it is then :) Raj at Autoflock has an ST170 engine in his Mk1 fiesta, might be worth a look at one of his build threads if you can find one. Think its running GSXR throttle bodies too. Not sure how complete the engine is though.
