progress has been there but slowly, so hes what ive been up to over the past couple of days... bearing in mind i start work at 2 and usually get going at about 12!

my aim has been to get the hubs out to get new wheel bearings pressed in. ive hit a few obstacles but they look like this atm
(all the rust is solid in those pics, and they will all be getting a good coating in hammerite and stone chip!)
Image

one rounded off caliper bolt (whats the best way to get this off? grind off the head and then what?)
Image

shit thats been removed
Image

and finally, bits that im unsure about
Image

the ring, where has that come from lol?

and the nut that holds the track rod end on, can i use just a nylock nut to replace it?

and also, the caliper carrier bolts, can i use a replacement nut with a seperate washer?

next job is to get the rubber flexi hoses off (struggling to get them off atm) removed the front brake lines to inspect them and replace the terminals! remove the lower arms and carriers, then built it all back up, trying to replace as much as possible and spray shit)

much love, Ben

The best way to try and get that carrier bolt off is using a hammer and chisel to shock it into moving after a good soak in oil/diesel, WD-40, jizz (ok not the last one) or what ever penetratic fluid you have.

The ring, who knows?!?! :D
Track rod end bolt, yes go nyloc
Caliper carrier bolts, you could, but new Ford onces are cheap enough
What you struggling with on the flexis? The nut that holds them on? Might end up having to cut and re-flare (ball-ache) but try soaking with a rag wrapped around them.

Paul

sweet Paul! ill give it a go, i did try twating it with my mallet. but its near enough rounded off so whether ill get enough grip im not sure! will try mole grips to see if that does anything.

wel i hope it isnt important :P

well i have to reflare the pipes for the servo so i might just do that :) will get do caliper bolts from ford too then mate! anybody got any idea on the brake terminal size to attach my brake lines to?

Getting a 6 sided socket or hammering a smaller 6 sided socket on the caliper bolt should work.

Don't ever use washers on anything brake related, it will be the death of you.

Because using a washer means it can come loose

Why would you want to use loctite on brake parts? You'll stuggle to get them off when you come to change pads ect and snap/round off the bolt like you've already done

Just do them up tight enough and all will be fine :)

Some people use it as a double safety, some people use it because they aren't confident. Up to you if you use it or not though to be fair :)

make sure you wirebrush/powerfile/grind that rust back before hammeriteing as hammeriteing over rust is a fail ;)

The metal ring is off the ball joint dust cover, there is 2 on each ball joint to hold the dust cover in place, the smaller one isn't too important but the larger ring of the 2 is
