right chaps.

engine is in the bay but not mounted up. will get pics up later but the space we had made it 1000x's difficult. there was me, my mate and his dad. both very knowledgable with cars.

alternator had to come off as did the manifold (which we scratched to fuck). i need to take the drive shafts out of the hubs to be able to get the engine mounted up.

they easy to get out? cant find my haynes atm so any advice would be awesome. hoping on getting it all mounted up tomorrow! thanks, Ben

Hi Ben

I never took the driveshafts out of the hubs, I just undid the pinch bolt at the bottom of the hub and pulled the whole assembly out of the way.

Duno if that helps?

oo good idea. but they're going have to come out anyway as i need the wheel bearings doing so it means the hubs are coming off. plus it means i can replace the gators whilst im at it! :)

To get the shafts out the hubs you use a chisel or punch to bend the punched in metal out the way of the indented part of the hub nut, undo the hub but which will be so tight I really do suggest having the wheel on and the car on the ground. Once it's off, block of wood and tap it (or if like mine get a sledgehammer!)

did you drop it in from the top or lift from the bottom?

as my alt and inlet were bolted on for all my conversions and the engine went in without an issue :?

also as said the shafts were left in the hubs but just pulled out the way until it was time to refit

hi terry. bottom bud. i stupidly put the cv boots back in which just stopped the drivers side shaft from wiggling past. just popped it out and all is well! alt came off because (pictures will explain) we were lifting the engine under the car and didnt want to keep putting it on the alt. just got it back on as well as the belt :)

exhaust mani had to come off because of the shaft was against the oil filter lol! so we were having to tip the engine forward whilst lowering the car, mamikng sure the oil filet or shaft was damaged, so the mani had to come off to do that :( so ill hopefully be able to bolt that on when i get back from work at 3!

and yes, pics will be posted bud :) ill put a couple in now.

as for the hub nuts, what size are they as i dont have a socket big enough! is it 32mm?

look at those pics im pretty sure the engine number is on the flat part of the block closest to the gearbox where the cps is mounted! but youve painted over it, ooops! hopefully you'll be able to make it out without having to remove the paint :doh:

i can circle it if you want?
