staying silver mate. went from green to copper then decided on silver. clean cut. dont want this car to look chavy at all (not saying people with different coloured calipers are!) but round here thats what people think lol. want it to look as standard as possible tbh :)

forgot to order slider pins so theyre on the way.

ive painted up the engine mounts today and mock fitted them

Image
the pas pipe was fouling the space where the bracket fixed to so i had to re bend that once again. a quick question, the bolt heads dont seem to be big enough, will some washers sort that or does the head need to be bigger?
Image

Image

and the ho inlet in position finally
Image

EDIT-noted that washers came as standard for the mounts so they will be sourced tomorrow hopefully :D

As much as I take the piss. I've got to be honest, your doing well :)

Good on you for painting everything, rocker cover, wheel colour imo, but your doing exactly what I want to do but sooner, keep at it and make it look sexual, green calipers might have made it look lairy and not "smart" try and keep it OEM+ and smart looking instead of sort of "track, euro" or something similar, could come out pretty good ;)

lol thanks Chris, knew you would be nice eventually :P

rocker cover is going crackle black! it came red, bloody hate it lol. but thanks, that is exactly what i want, oem big time. glad you understand. hope to see you doing this soon then :) wish i could go a bit more crazy ie more power, full shell jobby etc but for my age and income, this is perfect :)

little update, flywheel was only dropped off today sadly, but gives me time to make sure i have everything ready :) quick question also, will i be able to fit the ashley manifold once the engine is in? thanks

Looks good mate :)

Yeah put the manifold on once the engine is in... It will probably be a tight squeeze between the manifold and the rad fan though, but you'll get there with it :)

right, as title states, i took the newly refurbished calipers out of the box to show my dad and boom, bits of rust are starting to sneak through the silver paint. now i know i went for the standard finish. but i did not expect this and am very disappointed. ive emailed biggred so im not sure what their reply will be. what do people reckon on this? am i being a bit moany or should i be pissed of?

right had a reply, wish id listened to them in the first place! my own fault for choosing a standard finish (finished with a can of spray yet still sand blasted). getting them zinc plated now instead, wish id chosen that in the first place, stupid fucking me.

Right. issue. i did bring this up in the technical forum but i dont see how i can do it. the nut will not fit through any of the holes, do i need to cut a small section out to be able to get the nut in? i know that might weaken the chassis leg slightly but thats all i can think of?
Image
does it need bolting from this side also?
Image

thanks, Ben

Where are you trying to get a nut into?

And yeah it needs bolting from the back too.

evening shanters...

a little update tonight. will begin with the rocker cover...

Image

hammered black (not majorly hammered as its only hammered hammertie but it gives a nice slight hammered effect ;)

will be getting either black or grey ht leads too but the red ones will do for now.

managed to get hold of an rs1800 fuel rail wiring box (big thanks to AWOL)
will my 1.4si wiring be ok? eg do all the connections i need look like they're there? i will get to that when i whack it in tomorrow so its just to check.
Image

my torque wrench arrived. draper jobby. has been calibrated etc with paper work to prove its all in good working order.
Image

and finally, my ferodo pads and disks arrived!
Image
free air freshener (for my wait?)
Image
and one with them behind the wheels just to get the feeel for it :teehheee:
Image

now onto the more important shit!

i sent my calipers back to get them with a polymer coating as its the best and most durable finish they offer. sadly they dont do silver so i chose black. now yes, you can say that's a boring choice on my behalf but i thought logically. wont show dirt as easily and it will look oem'ish!

my theme will be black and grey/anthracite etc etc. boring but clean cut imo.

which leads me onto my next purchase (which will be at the end of this month)... samco gun metal grey hoses.

thought i may as well, spend enough so far so i dont want to cut corners. so they will be ordered in due course.

will be fitting my front mount tomorrow. i cba forking out 50 odd squid on a rivnut tool, so ive got a method that may or may not work. if not it will be a straight through nut and bolt jobby.

still waitng on the flywheel so watch this space.

peace & love

Ben

Nice little update Ben. RS2000 brakes aren't all that bad, bigger would look better though :)

Fuel rail wiring looks ok to me, looks like all the correct plugs are there.

Sort the HT lead wiring out though, it's pissing me off being a mess like that :)
