need to buy discs and pads for my rs2k calipers. now its either standard vented discs and pads or do i go uprated with grooved discs and better pads?

Personally I would stay with vented.

Get some standard ferodo standard discs and premier pads if you can get them in your fitments.

I overhauled the whole of my Si's braking system, new shoes and cylinders on the back, new calipers on the front, discs, pads, lines, fluid, followed by a damn good bleed, and I have to say the thing stopped better than the Pulsar does (not difficult with it's shit brakes). The weight and speeds Si's do, if you have a decent standard brake setup, there's no need going into the whole uprated thing unless you are tracking it.

yeah i thought that Des. will be replacing the shoes etc on the rear as well. i suppose if i do start getting into track days i can get track pads and discs to swap over for then

Another good brand are mintex, also pagid are good too. I'm running pagid pads on ford discs... good hot and cold imo - and I do hard braking
