i had the same issue. took the gearbox off, on its side, one mate levering it with a bar and me hitting it with a mallet. pretty sure you hit it in different places whilst trying to lever it off and it will pop off. try it!

Well, here's todays work...

Needed to get this:

Got a little worried getting it that high!

After lots of little disconnects and finding bolts to undo I got ready.

So dropped down.

On the blocks.

And then the gearbox did not want to budge. Did you know the EGR stuff hides one little bolt? Yup, had to remove that stuff as best as I could!

So yeah, decided to use the gearbox cradle to help me:

And down and out, could have sworn I drained three litres of oil into a bucket:

It's bloody dirty! Never knew I could actually lift a whole gearbox without hurting myself lol.

Quick attack with a wire brush attachment on my cordless drill:

Clearly, I have a LOT of cleaning to do. There is a very slow oil leak from the engine that I suspect might be the rocker cover gasket as it caked the coil pack and thermostat housing.

Next weeks worth of work is all that cleaning, fit the new clutch then start putting things back together.

Yeah, that oil leak is what's been mentioned on two MOT advisories. It's just getting a damn good clean along with the rest of the engine and the bay. Just trying to decide on how to clean it!

can you pressure wash this sort of stuff? not the bell housing, but the outside? especially where the cv boots go in because its such a pain in the arse to get to!
