sounds interesting. i would look at the manifold definetely. in terms of having a cold air feed etc and a big filter, that would surely make a difference to response?

cams would be in the distant future of course.

and exhaust wise, a sports cat is basically a de cat but it doesnt affect your emissions as much? or would it just be more sensible to get a de cat?

Cold air feed and big filter will help yeah, but the air filter can suck in quite a lot of hot air from the engine bay during the summer. I notice it with mine, and its gay!

Sports cat's are higher flowing compared to standard ones. Having a normal cat can be good for torque. The whole exhaust system needs to be the right size for it to work effectively, too big and you'll lose power, too small and you'll damage the engine.

I think Ry posted up something a while back about exhausts. But to be fair, if you buy something made for the car from a reputable manufacture it will generally be more than fine. You probably wont notice much of a difference apart from the sound which will make it sound faster.

Standard airbox setup is meant to be good replacement, or re-locating the filter somewhere where there is more cold air getting to it rather than hot. But in the summer, you'll always get heat soak either way.

Custom exhausts aren't really worth it when you can pick up stainless cat back systems fairly cheaply.

i keep telling that myself! got the last bits of my paint so painting all engine bits today and bay hopefully. then bolt it all up and get it in think i might go for a full exhaust danny... manifold the lot.... as i think the manifold on atm wont go with the 1.6 downpipe? ill send you a pic

Good luck getting a system that will fit properly lol. Ashley are known for their poor fit! All you need is a 1.6 downpipe and cat crack system. I have 2 in my garage one is for the car and one is has the cat cut off from when I was going to make a DIY de-cat pipe
