imho i would say 185bhp in a standard box is pretty awesome because they arent rated to that lol .. stage 2 are rated to 250 but i guess it depends on the torque figure

Making good progress there ben!! :D

wa engine you fitting again, 2.0?

makes me wish i'd finished mine. although after racing jony and seeing how fast his 133bhp 1.8 is, im not so sure.. would have been awesome if i ever finished it though.

the wheels look great too!

i would run 195/45/15s over 195/50/15s any day. look better and will be quicker too. toyos are a good all rounder. and paradas last 5 mins. lol

Jony's car isn't much faster than a 1.6 zetec-s in the 0-60 down ford fair, so I don't actually think its 133 bhp. Unless its on good rollers then I wouldn't say it's accurate.

But Jony's car can beat anything on the road.

Enough of him, he's unwelcome on this site, so no more talk about him for another 28 days at least lol.

Hows it going Ben? Not had any pics, messages or phone calls today!

danp... thanks man. yeah 2.0l silvertop. i love it mate, working on a car in this much depth is just pure joy for me.in terms of jonys car, i hope its faster lol :P thats all i will say on him. and i think you should have kept yours too lol, instead of getting a civic, get another si :P glad you like the wheels, were going to get them white like you did but i reckon id go off em fast p.s i havent forgot about that fiver! just havent had time :P

lol thanks danny. been working a lot (got a new job which is much better hours so the car should be done in the next two weeks hopefully!) today i sprayed the alt bracket and servo. took the loom out the shed and im shitting myself about it! going to be a dash out job etc i think :( so yes, charge your battery because we will be at it all day and night! ;)

The loom will be very fun! Are the plugs labelled or not?

Don't know if it will be a dash out jobby to be fair, I don't know where it connects to the interior loom, probably behind the dash somewhere, but I would imagine taking the dash out will make everything a lot easier. With the wiring, do not rush or bodge anything! Last thing you want is an electrical fire!

Now I've scared you just a little bit, have fun!

You know I'm here if you need any help though. If you are connecting any earths up while you do the loom, it might be worth putting a bit of copper grease on them or making sure they are touching bare metal in one way or another. A dodgy earth can be a killer, so eliminating that problem from the start is always a good thing to do, saves a lot of pissing around if there is a something not working properly!

I'm sure you'll be alright though :D

no haha! ive labelled my old loom to get an idea like. luckily a friend of mines dad is an auto electrician so he will be checking it over when its done but yeah, dash out. probably get it flocked because i like the look of a flocked dash :)

but yes, thats the one thing im properly shitting it about. still have a few questions... double check on the fuel pump. starter motor. ermmmmmm that gearbox metal gasket bracket thing (does it play a major role?), ermmm engine mount (Can i use the old rubber mounts on the new one?) just a case of trial and error :)

trying to figure out what mounts i have and dont have. i have the one on the alt bracket but im not sure where the other one is? just me confusing myself really :)

and the brake servo. need to get the old one off first but need to figure out whats being used because obviously the 2.0l mondeo servo will have pipes for rear calipers, correct? or does that not make a difference?

Fuel pump - post on ft or do some searches online.

Starter motor will be fine.

Metal gasket spacer thing, its there for a reason so use it lol

What old rubber mounts are you on about?

The 4 engine mounts you need are - alt bracket one (front) the one on the back of the engine - can probably use the cvh one for that if it bolts up the same on the block, and the two on the gearbox cradle.

Brake servo pipes wont make a difference, they use different size threads on the unions iirc, so that needs to be changed over. But, if you still need to get one and fit it ect, just leave it out for now and do it at a later date. Yeah it'll be easier to do it now, but also, it might not and could be one of those things on the list to go wrong.

would it be worth me replacing the starter motor, fuel pump and alt for brand new? cost wise what would i be looking at roughly?

i know i need to use it lol, i just mean does it need to be in perfect condition?

the rubber mounts that are already on my old engine?

think i understand now. but the alt bracket engine mount doesnt have the rubber bit on?

the brake servo ill ask danfraser about because he did try to explain it to me when i last saw him lol so ill get all i need to know off him and sort that bud.

ta Danny

Fuck buying all that new, it'll cost a bomb. Just get 2nd hand items.

The metal spacer plate doesn't need to be perfect no.

You might be able to use the rear one, not sure though. Front one will need changing for a zetec one. The alternator bracket one looks like this:

Image

Well thats the part that bolts to the wint, the other bit bolts onto the bracket.

The unions and the bias valves are already on your servo I sent you, just take the unions off, use a pipe cutter to take the ends off your current pipes to get the old unions off and then put the mondeo unions on and flare the pipes :)

Obviously only on the ones that need changing, two are the same size as the fiesta. The locations of the pipes are still the same as the fiesta master cylinder.

right cool :) i need to get a flare tool then :)

that will be done soon... danny, i do have the mounts :) thank god.

had a very nice pay package so im trying to figure out what to get next...i will be getting new seals, pistons etc to do the calipers and some extra paint but that wont touch my pay (not being arrogant kids)... so its between the lower arms, exhaust or rubber for the wheels?

all im waiting on is a downpipe and a rad. once thats all done im pretty sure i have everything!

Ben
