31 is motorway mpg for sure ! its more like 25 around town/short journies. they need to be revved to get the best use of them as it has vvt and impo the gear ratios are fucked lol but ive had problem free motoring (cue the car breaking now ) and it handles SO well ! ive had a lot of trouble trying to get the arse end out you can buy mine if you like

and focus st170 is better then that - average is 31mpg - motorway will be nearer 40

get a 172 and prepare to be shunned - build quality is dire, unrefiend and motorways are an arse. only saving grace is performance and handling but in the real world - imo - with your motorway mileage an st170 is a better bet

No they actually do but doesn't sound like ST170's do.

The interiors are drab on the clio and the car itself isn't the prettiest. I don't get what you mean by unrefined though.

Considering i've spent the last 2 years hooning up and down the motorway with a full system fiesta stripped out half the time on coilovers, I don't think i'm going to mind the clio it also keeps the trackdays option open to me as i'd like to keep doing them now and again.

Can't have been that bad if he kept it for 2 years!

Still need to test drive one, not saying they are amazing but I like small hatches, If I could afford it i'd spend on an engine for the fiesta but I don't want to as its too much at the mo. The cup versions handle really well apparently and 172bhp isn't bad going! Perfect out the box track car for me to use now and again on track.
