Big Update!

Done a few more things to the ignis recently!

after fitting the new lambda sensors i still wasnt 100% positive it was as quick as it used to be when i first fitted the manifold, so i thought i`d try an induction kit on it again, so i fitted my enclosed bmc dia filter back on it.

what a difference it made, throttle response is very very sharp now and it goes much better both low revs and higher up once vvt kicks in, it sounds lovely too.

just needs a tidy cold air feed pipe now as i wrecked the last one and could do with a decent 90 degree elbow for the TB.
Image

anyway, so i was a bit bored one evening after work, i love the sound of the exhaust with the rear seats down and the boot floor out, and ive always fancied a stripped out car, nobody ever uses my rear seats i thought sod it, and pulled them out!

ive removed:
rear seats
boot floor
spare wheel
jack

it all weighs around 40kgs so with the aircon removed as well it must weigh around 890-900kgs now. believe it or not, it does actually feel a bit quicker too! and the exhaust sounds stunning with it all out! looks cool too i think.
Image

in other news i finally got my hands on some front fogs! got these from a lad on ignis owners, he beat me to them when they came up on ebay built into a bumper not so long ago, i was gutted! but seen his car pop up on ebay, so i messaged him and turned out he still had them, so i took them off his hands for a very good price!
only trouble is he dropped one of the lamps and broke it, so i need to find a new one from somewhere (any ideas?) and he also carbon skinned them but it hasnt turned out great, so im gonna pull it all off and have them painted in a matt/satin black, to match my headlamps. will save me a bit of money having to have them painted silver and have it all blended in to the front bumper, i can fit them myself too!
Image

Image
good thing is they also came with the switch and fittings
Image

im gonna be ordering some new greenstuff front pads this week too, as the other set are gone!

Finally ordered some better wheels!

Team Dynamics Pro Rally 1s in Anthracite (least i wont have to clean them constantly like the enkeis lol)

15X6J so an inch wider than the standard rims.

ET28 Offset so will widen the overall track by 28mm!

although with them being a hardened gravel rally wheel, i dont think they will be as light as the 5.5kg enkeis but will soon see. might try and weigh them before i fit them..

so in theory the car should handle better on them, they wil also fill the arches out better and the wont show up the dirt like the white ones do!

it will also keep it looking like a little rally car too lol!

especially once ive got the front fogs fitted! they are going in for paint next week too!

i also fitted my greenstuff pads thursday night too so the brakes are feeling much better now!!

Not a fan personally, don't think the colours go well together.

But if it handles better then awesome!

the white wheels were doing my head in trying to keep them clean all the time.

one of the other lads on ignis owners has these in white on his and they dont look right then. although mine has a wider offset.

i can get them powdercoated for nothing anyway if i get bored.

right then had the ignis dyno'd today at hightech performance in treochy, south wales. fair play to craig up there, bloke knows his stuff!!

last time figures were:
wheels - 88.5BHP and 82.7lbft
Flywheel - 112.7BHP and 103.9LBFT

this is it last time
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_0l2HAZVmE
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fAyR99cM ... ure=relmfu

since then its had
new lambda sensors and the manifold modified to replace the dodgy wired cheapy ebay universal sensors i had fitted
magnecor leads
and now its got an ITG MAXOGEN filter on it.

anyway i didnt expect the car to do all that well as its been a bit flat recently, so i done an ecu reset before i took it up there!

anyway it seemed to be going well on the way there, so i though happy days!

got there and it went straight on the dyno! which is a MAHA Dyno.

Image

done a bit of a warm up run 1st and it made 114bhp, which already was better than last time!

1st power run.
wheels - 100.2bhp and 97.3lbft
flywheel - 119.7bhp and 124.9lbft
graph:
Image

2nd power run.
wheels - 98.1bhp and 104.65
flywheel - 120.9bhp and 124.5lbft
graph:
Image

AFR:
Image

3rd power run
wheels - 104.1bhp and 106.84
flywheel - 125.4bhp and 126.6lbft
graph:
Image
Image

to be honest im not sure how accurate the dyno was, but at least know i know its about 120bhp, which for what ive done to it it about right i think. and im happy.

he said the power curve was a bit spiky though which mapping could possibly sort out, although the car was only running on 97 octane juice when it was on there..

some pics of the car
Image
Image

got some videos uploading now too!

edit: videos now up!

yes i did put up there lol

modified the manifold so didnt have to extend the cables anymore
changed the lambda sensors from the crappy universal ebay ones to proper OE denso sensors.

got ITG Filter instead of crappy halfords one

and magnecor leads.

its quite a bit faster than when it was down gotboost.

wa car did you have down gotboost then? the astra wasnt it?

well at 113bhp it was over the standard 109. but the lambda sensors were making it run a bit flat.

but now at 120- 125bhp its about right for wa ive done to it.

yeah theres always a tolerance with dynos i think!
