was at Croft circuit for the Derby and Durham RSOC regional day, car was going well until the gearbox went bang!!!

looks like the cover plate for the clutch let go, and rubbed through the bellhousing , so decide to take the engine and box out to sort the oil leak i have from the engine and send the gearbox down to Peter at GEARS for a rebuild

Ill have it all back together in time for RS Combe in 4 weeks time

That is a shame indeed!

At least while the engine is out you can sort any niggles out on it and within the bay if there are any

Im not overly bothered to be honest, thats the gearbox now on its way to GEARS for a rebuild and will be back good as new in no time. hopefully there aint too much damage and its just new bearings and bellhousing it needs

Ill get the engine on the engine stand and change all the gaskets, and replace the timing belt too, and Im gonna send the rocker cover to get carbon dipped whilst its all off, theres a company in Glasgow now doing it so ill go see him on Friday

Ill also pull of one of the conrod caps and just make sure the shells are in good order whilst its in bits , worth just checking to be sure the engine is still fine with all the heavy track miles its done

engine and box all back in

gearbox was fooked, main shaft 2nd and 4th gears , all the syncros and bellhousing, Peter and Andy at GEARS done me a great turn repairing the box, very happy with their service and price

new timing belt, and new sump gasket, rocker cover gasket, changed the spec of the oil to 5w 50 motrosport

replaced the front engine crossmember and got it powdercoated after the old one was badly cracked, and replaced the front nearside wheel bearing and inner and outer CV jionts as I had a bit of a knock off the front when cornering right fast

also bought new lightweight racing wheel nuts, in blue , to see wether they help with teh front wheel loosening off, but that may be linked to the knocking from the CV jiont

So thats me set for Combe almost, just some wee bits to finsih , change the back shoes, and nut and bolt check again

Had a good day at Combe on Saturday, very very quick track, I was on the limiter in 5th gear on the staright up the hill to Quarry corner

Unbelievably my incar camera memory card has failed so no incar footage, im totally gutted, as I was going really well today in very very tricky conditions, and was overtaking and lapping much quicker cars all day

had a bit of an issue with the gearbox again, but think its an issue with the selector fork in the gearbox ( hopefully ) as it wouldnt select gears all of a sudden when chasing the red EVO 8 round the circuit coming into Folly, so went off the circuit onto the infield grass away from the track so not to stop the session.

No footage sucks but sounds like a good day! you always seem to be having something wrong with the gearbox lol

Yes gutted about the footage, it would have been really good, as the conditions where very tricky, and the car was going great round there, i was lapping most cars all day,

Meant to type too, that I won farthest travelled trophy ( 365 miles) and Best Track CAr trophy, I was chuffed to bits getting that
