Hiya, my lovely fiesta Si 1.6 16v has failed the MOT and Hubby wants to sell it to the scrap man.

Have had quote to repair the car of £180 to get it to pass the MOT,
but then another £100 to put in a new water pump.
The car has been off the road for a year now so previous MOT had run out. But she started first turn of the key and the 26 round mile trip to the MOT station and back was no problem - no water lost from the pump either, just making a terrible noise.

Apart from the waterpump on its way out,
This is what the MOT man said.

first the easy to fix stuff
Nearside Headlamp deteriorated.
nearside mirror damaged - (its just the mirror got a crack in it)

offside indicator not working and hazards not working - this is the wire connection at the bulb has broken (broke the morning of the test)

windscreen wipers not clearing the window effectively - (the rubber blades have split)

Now the other stuff :-

steering column movement between the shaft and steering wheel

offside front macpherson strut has excessive movement at upper attachment

offside rear brake pipe excessively corroded

offside sill rusty.

Having said all that, she still starts first time no problem.
we have owned the car for nearly 9 years, we have all the MOT certificates, and all receipts for any repairs done. we also have the hand books and the original blue folder they came in. Just don't have the money to do the repairs.
