Progress..

Help me make the decision please people, I really liked it when I first saw it then I saw the other side and because the other side doesn't look to bad as its painted almost properly I can't decide!

I will be getting them all professionally sprayed I think eventually, they need doing properly can't decide whether to get them done in a dark grey, which has flake in it and do the wheels the same, or do them myself satin black..

Its a shame the sun went away as it looked really sparkly and good without the strips on

Your mum has a carbon roof... impressive lol.

I like it without the strips, look more fresh. Not sure about the wheel situtation though. Black and silver is a fairly good combo to go with!

Wow that's Mega lol.
Looks good pal.

I'm still not a fan of the missing bump strips, looks bare without them. Maybe better in the flesh though.

Buhhhh.

Strongly considering selling this car for a car of the 172 Cup variety..

It wont be until after show season as I really enjoy ford fair etc even though I don't really have a car worth showing off I wanna bash round silverstone once more.

What are peoples opinions? Will need to save up some money and either P/x it with a dealer but I know i'd get bugger all for it, or sell it standard ish.

I dislike the shape of Clios and that but it'd be fast, handle really well and wouldn't be overly noisy/bumpy, which I don't normally mind but is doing my head in with how crap my car is  I enjoyed it when it was cammed as it was worth all the noise but its just not and the constant rear wheel scrubbing is annoying even though my car is high!

So question is kinda what should I do to the car to make it presentable, I am getting some sparkly grey bumpstrips soon, could either spray the wheels myself grey or just leave them. Dunno if its worth sorting out the rust, could just put it back to standard bar puma lump and see how it goes..

Been considering it for a few weeks now and starting to seriously consider it, don't like french cars, don't like clios but they tick all the boxes atm, and i'd only have a blue one with 182 leathers/suedes. Blue ones are growing on me, wouldn't mod it either as coilies etc are worse than te cup suspension afaik.

Who'd hate me? :P I'd end up coming back to a Ford in a year or two, depending on my situation it'd be an Si or Mk2 escort or similar :P

172 cup is a good car. A shame they look so cack, especially on the inside. Same with the Megane Cup - Wanted to buy one but as soon as I sat in it I was put off totally.

The cam belts are dear to do too. They are a bargain car though and ultimately if I wanted to build a cheap track machine to strip out, I'd be looking at one too. After driving one, you probably wouldn't come back to Ford any time soon, especially not an Si or Mk2 Escort as you'll be introduced to a new world of handling capability. I don't want to start flames though so I will end that sentence saying that I've never been in an Si or Escort with decent suspension, ever,

I wouldn't have one as a daily, but that's me and I can't deny on paper and on the performance side of things they are a great car.

What other cars are you thinking of? :)

Yeah I'd get one with a belt done and all the rest recent.

Not thinking of any other cars nothing fits the category lol

I definately need to try driving one and consider the costs but they get the same mpg as me if your sensible lol

I'm sure all the handling and speed will be great and Ford wont match up but i wouldnt get one for that if I did,it would be a daily show car or something lol

That's cool :) What is the "category0 "though?

Try one, you may hate it and its cheap plastic French feel.

go for it while you can, my si was doing my head in with its overly hard suspension and aging body work then the rolling road day pissed me right off so fell out with it, will return but only when i have spare cash to lob away so thats why i bought a newer car which as soon as i drove it made me think id wish id done it sooner. So if you can just buy one and enjoy it while you can.

whats your criteria? found this site full of stats http://www.torquestats.com/index.php?pid=comparison which may be of use to you in comparing cars.

Clios are epic cars truely are. You might find that you get bored easily my mate had a PH1 172 track car, ploughed money into the engine and made 7 bhp over standard. But then he had Leda coilovers on etc the handling was phenomenal!

*Flame suit on*

VTS/GTi? again a mate of mine had a Gti with rally spec cat cams all the usually shizzle and it would eat the likes of clios and type-r's purely down to power/weight ratio. ill find out but it was around the 160bhp mark and it sounded louder than a vtec as soon as it wound up! hes now rebulding it and charging it and going for 300bhp mark!

Plus with the frenchies they are silly cheap to tune!

I want a car that I don't have to tune though, I don't want to be ploughing money into it as i've seen what can happen if it all goes wrong (even with a professional build.. Manks engine on ZSOC 5k.. Bang a few thousand miles later)

There isn't really a category or anything i'm not really looking for a new car but they have just caught my eye as being fast, handling really well with the cup packs, having nice looking seats and a few factory comforts like cruise control and stuff not sure how much of it comes on the 172 Cup but I know its limited,

If I were to have a category it would be a hot hatch, with the power of a 172/182, with the good handling all as standard so it wasn't silly loud and didn't ride silly hard, not that i'm getting old and boring as I am sure the Cup pack isn't comfortable! and I'd still like a bit of noise, I just want a package I don't have to spend money on atm and I need it to be about 2k. Which they tick like all the boxes, apart from looks but the colour can kinda make up for it.

Does sound like i've kinda made up my mind and I guess I have, whether I go through with it or not is a different story, but still would like opinions on the car itself and what you all know about them, or if there is another car I haven't opened my eyes to.

Although they are good cars, they are boring, very boring!

My friend had one at one point, I drove it, didnt like it. Although it was flipping quick, it was just way to french. Cheap and nasty.
