Again its been a while since i updated this thread but oh well, first off my abs light wasnt coming on with the ignition and as the mot was coming up this was becoming an issue. so after i managed to get a decent insurance renewal quote and i knew i could keep the car i decided to do somthing about it.
so removed the dash and took it apart and much to my suprise (not) the bulbs had been removed. so i went on ebay and bought myself a set from a breaker with the bulbs working and as i expected the abs light stayed on. plugged into the abs at work with diagnostic equipment and there are no fault codes. Now if your not in the motor trade and someone says to you that working on cars these days is plain and simple all you have to do is stick a computer on the car and it says whats wrong then take it from me its not like that when you take your car to the garage and they charge you £40 or whatever for "just sticking a computer on it" its not only paying for the huge costs of buying such equipment but the time of someone who can read and use the infomation correctly to find the problem.
anyhow i am getting to a point here, as there was no codes i decided to have a bit of a think and plugged the equipment back in making it record the readings from each wheel speed sensor so i could read them when i pulled over. the conclusion of all this is that the rear left sensor is sending no wheel speed to the modulator. thats where im at now with the abs.
in the middle of all this going on one weekend the car decided it didnt like its os/r wheelbearing any more and chewed it up. got some pics of the old bearing after 4 miles of it becoming noisy.

this pic shows the component parts of the wheel bearing.

one chewed up bearing. for those who dont know the rollers that are loose in the middle of the inner part of the bearing are all meant to be held together by a cage which was just metal swarf, when i removed the drum the rollers fell on the floor.

this picture shows the old abs ring which has been worn down and dented by rubbing against the wheel speed sensor.

and i have 2 new abs rings this is the one i have still to fit, as you can see the teeth are much larger on this one
also i have been collecting a few more bits i have my pollyflex rear beam bushes as they need to be replaced for the mot and i have a lower strut brace which will be fitted along with a set of new front arms and drop links, the arms arnt failable but they are a fair few years old and fitting fresh stuff cant be bad.
