right today went to fit the rear polly bushes in the top hats....
wasn't all that im pressed. they fit the srings good and the hat. no play up and down but plenty of play side to side. flo-flex seemed to have made the bushes not as wide as the origional ford one. if i put them in the top hat and push the shock to front of hat, theres about 1inch or so of movement (gap) so i did this. (see if you can follow, if not ask and ill explain);

Image
Image
put polly bush on top of oem rubber bush (see what i mean by width difference!)
.....
and draw round

Image

Image
cut the internal out of the gen ford rubber.
so the polly can sit inside.

Image

Image
glue the oem rubber bush.... er well.... now a sleeve actualy.... into the top cap. fit the plolly bush into the spring and put the polly bush back in the genuine rubber sleave bush. so now the polly bush takes the weight/flex. and the oem rubber take the side to side wobble.

well theres only one way to see if it'll work.....

Looking good Sam!!

Be aware that those brembo discs are known to warp. Couple of people I know and a couple on FT have had them warp too. You may not experience it but its been noted that its a problem with them. Brembo may have got on top of it with newer discs though, so you might be lucky!

Yeah you will feel the pedal go up and down slightly when braking if they are warped.

I dont know of what model of those discs are known to warp, wether it be the 'max' ones or a different type.. the 'max' ones may be better, who knows!

Hopefully you dont come across these problems, but its better knowing rather than not I guess! :)

right today i took off the other rear drum brake, then i had to get the two bolts off that held the rear axle on.
one came out. the other was seized in, undid by a few turns then the head rounded off and was well stiff!

not to worry.
i cut the axle off.
cut through the bolt (took some time its high tensel!!!) and got the axle off.
took the axle down the garden and burnt/ set fire to the bushes and pulled them out.
then went to scrapy to get new bolt (for axle same as the one i murdered.
got home found out the motorfactors had suplyed me with the wrong rear brake cyilinders so went out to shop and changed them.
also had to chase up rude racing as the goodridge brake lines they sold me had 2 wrong sized nuts. so goodridge themselfs are sending out some more to me.
oh and rottary wirebrushed and partly painted the brake drum plates and rear axle......

busy day.
