hmm thanks sam for that... 2.0l mondeo buddy, just getting the last bits and bobs, picking it up on friday.

today's updates, just ordered my rear beam mounting bushes from flo flex, hopefully attempt to fit them on tuesday... lol... after that the coilies will be going on, then brakes... thinking about going for area six lower arms...

they have to be set up properly right?

Idealy they need to be set up properly yeah. Basically you want the wheel as vertical as possible for less tyre wear

Dunno if he's home yet. Got a text suggesting he may be doing the engine change this weekend due to funny noises!

Unfortunately neither of us had a 13mm spammer for a mondeo servo. I'll get him one sorted next week for tr scrapyard price and p&p. Also, never heard of OWLS or PLOT ecu for 2 litre engines!! Lucky little bastard got the only MK5 sunroof without tabs I have ever seen in there (not counting seeing one on a mk4 in the insurance pound).

And to those who don't know him, yes he doesn't look old enough to drive!!

no worries buddy. in the process of sorting them tbh.

big thanks to tom for supplying me with the engine, he had a gorgeous xr2i and focus st there when we arrived, very jealous of them and his double garage and ample work space!
big thanks to steve the bloke who supplied me with the inlet, had a lovely orion.
and a big thanks to dan for showing me around looms scrappy and helping me go through the trouble of removing 2 ecus from mondeos to find they were bloody useless lol.

need to replace the gasket on the head on the engine, and a few other things im confused about but as said, will post pics. getting shit nervous now...

What gasket exactly do you need to replace? Head? or a manifold one?

ermm this is where my inexperience about mechanics shows.... the rocker cover gasket?

but i think some others need replacing, on the inlet too?

Oh if its the rocker cover one then thats no worry, you can pick them up cheap enough.

Inlet too can be sourced for about £7 from a decent motor factors too.

awesome, when it comes to asking for them, i know you usually give your reg in to get the right part, do i literally say a gasket for a 2.0l mondeo and a gasket for the ho inlet?

also, theres like a metal gasket thing attached to where the flywheel is i think... what is that?

Nah, ask them for this gasket or an equivalent: Payen JD265.

That the gasket for the HO inlet to head. Same as what I got for my engine. Payen are a good make, they make all the gaskets for ford.






The metal plate is basically a type of gasket/spacer plate. Just leave it on there unless its for a rear starter motor, if it is, just swap it fro the one on your engine
