me wheels are rubbing on full lock and was just woundering if i put 5mm spacers on will this stop it! if not what do i need to do with a rough cost?

Have you got aftermarket alloys on? Mine rubbed on full lock and then when they MOT-ed it they found the insides of the front tyres were rubbed bald, so they replaced them, did the tracking for me and that's helped a lot, it doesn't rub as much and I try not to put it really hard into full lock.

5mm spacers will help, but be careful that the wheels don't poke out from the arches or it won't be road legal.

You can buy a steering rack limiting kit from Ford which is really expensive or you can do something to the existing rack (think it
involves moving the steering gaiters and hoseclips or something, it was dealt with in another thread last year).

ouch that sound makes me shiver im thinking ov restricting the lock on the steering its got some thing to do with jubellie clips not sure how easy its to do but im sure some ones done it some where

i had many thoughts about this.

i came to a conclusion that,
if you removed the steering gaitors, inner ones, and positioned some hose clips in an ideal position (wherever you want your lock to stop), onto the actual output shaft of the rack, then refit the boot over the top and grease it all up again, then perhaps this would work, although i think if you went to hard on full lock you would rip it clean off..

other ideas included putting a hose clip around the boot ( a large one), tighten the clip down fully so it squeezes the boot down onto the shaft/rack, and then make some brackets mount them in an ideal position, so as when rack is moving, it will collide with the bracket when you want it to..

its a trial and error thing imo

as above, two hose clips on the inside of the steering rack gaitor will limit you full lock and stop the rubbing. If using spacers make sure your getting enough turns on the wheel nuts, and the wheels arnt sticking out further than the arch (MOT FAIL) and if the cars lowered, using spacers might make your tyres rub on the arches when going down pot holes etc.
