Actually Danny, can I nick a few of those pictures for the main site? I want to try something and they are near perfect width and height :)

Back in the day I loved that car. It never once let me down, it went literally everywhere in the uk about 10 times with no problems. I gave it death on a daily basis to be fair, that little engine got abused

There is honestly only 1 picture of that car I really like, which shows the lush aubergine colour, and its this one:

Image

But yeah, I look at that car and think about how it was my pride and joy at the time and look at all the little mods I did to it thinking they was cool, then I look at my car now and look at the spec list of it (which can be found on the first page of this thread if you are interested) and compare the two and I realise how much better this car is. Even at first with this car it was a bit shit looking back at it, but looking at it now in its current state I am quite happy with it. I have done literally everything I wanted to do with it. There are a few more things I'd like to do, but they are only small things :)

it is a beaut, even if i disagree wit the colours eg tourmallard and white wheels, hate that green, its like a poor attempt at British racing green, silly ford, and to think im buying an Si in that colour! sillies aint i

aubergine is a far better colour imo

but i still admire the car as its got quite a good presence and reputation of being a clean cut Si for the last 4 years on both forums

Euro spec lights should be on that list for definite! :D
im crying out for a pair myself

Yeah RS accessory lights are one thing I would like, surprised they wasn't on my list. Ive added them now lol.

I've gone half euro by tinting the reverse light red, so im half way there lol, just need to get the tinted indicators. I would never in my life tint the indicator with black tint spray though, it looks completely rubbish my opinion. I would only ever get genuine RS rear light with a tinted indicator.

I know what you mean about the colour scheme, but I guess it does work quite well in a strange way. I have often thought about having silver wheels, it would look quite good, but the character of the car would be lost some what and it would look kinda boring. The green colour wasn't my favourite either at first, but I've slowly fallen in love with it :) I do still love aubergine though. It has to be one of my favourite colours in all honesty :)

Love my aubergine si lol.

I thought your old motor looked great, especially with the white gti's on, not keen on the wheels in above pic. The pics youve taken recently really set that green off, looks brill and matches the wheels well.

Small update on the fiesta.

I've not really done mega loads recently, just sorting out a few little bits and bobs...

Firstly the paint on the power steering coolant pipe was rubbing off, so I decided to sand it back and give it a polished/chrome look. It came out rather well!

Image

Then while I was there I sorted out the badge on the bonnet so its in the middle (pic below later)

The other day I decided to fit my new splitter because my old one got ripped off some time ago.

I debated about putting the split in the middle, but there would be no reinforcement there to keep it from flapping, so its been put off centre like it originally was and secured better than last time too lol

Image

Then on saturday I went along with a few of the guys to the rolling road day at Devil Developments, was a good laugh, some awesome cars there.

I whacked the fiesta on the rollers - picture from Terry here:

Image

It made a lame 122.2bhp. The main reason as to why it made that figure is due to the K&N banana pipe is so soft and its sucking itself shut, restricting the power.

I have noticed it driving around a few times, a few people on forums have also said to ditch it because it does that, and the guys at Devil Development said exactly the same thing to me when they asked what intake setup it was on after telling me too, that its crap and sucks itself shut.

SO! The next day that got taken off and I raided the garage for bits and bobs to replace the K&N pipe with. I have decided the final design will not be like below, instead, a silicone 90 degree bend off the throttle body, then some metal piping, then a 45 degree bend off that to the MAF and air filter which will sit somewhere over the gearbox... its been done before so I know it works.

As I said, I raided the garage, found an old escort gti intake pipe, some cold air feed flexi pipe and made a temporary setup - mainly for testing purposes.

I've been running the setup for a couple of days now, no problems so far even though its a complete bodge, and so far the results are that it pulls harder and revs much more freely throughout the rev range. So all is good :D

Heres a pic

Image

Also the exhaust is/was blowing and the filter hasn't been cleaned for 2 years, which may not help.

As stated above, another thing which was a problem was the exhaust, the backbox in fact. It basically had a massive hole in it and was blowing. Where the hanging bracket is, it had peeled away basically. Probably due to stress on the exhaust system being twisted at some point.

So today that got sorted out. I got it welded up, then put fire resistant silicone sealant on the welds just to make sure it was all air tight again, then gave it a clean and fitted it.

Sadly no pics of the hole, sealant or cleaning process, just the after pics of the weld.

Image

Image

Image

Thennnnnnnnnnnnn after all that, I took it for a drive, seems all good.

Quick vid of 0-60 after all the 'fixes'. Its about 7 seconds. I'll let you be the judge of what time it is exactly. It hits the limiter at 62mph.

I think thats it for this update.

Hopefully once all the intake setup is sorted and what not, i'll whack it back on the rollers and see what difference it makes. Hopefully it'll be somewhere near the 130bhp mark, if it is, i'll be happy!

Nice fix on the intake Danny, I have heard the same about those k&n pipes before

The final setup sounds good, 95 Fiesta si did similar with his si from memory

Good work with the pipe and the exhaust too

Car is looking awesome atm dude :chill:

@ Dan:

Its much faster now the K&N banana pipe has been ditched, that's for sure!

I'll be having a setup similar to what 95 fiesta si had on his fiesta which Paul now owns, looks like so:

Image

@ Dave:

Cheers mate! :D

Those K&N pipes are shocking to be fair. On the 1.6 engine its probably ok because it doesn't suck in as much air and as fast either, so doesn't collapse, but soon as its on a 2.0 its no good at all. I do remember Jony saying he had problems when it was on his 1.6 though. I cant say I noticed much in all honesty when it was on the 1.6 engine.

Either way, its rubbish and its now gone :)
