fitted a different cone type filter on the ignis tonight..

i dunno whether the bmc was dirty (didnt have time to look) but it seems to pull better now, although the intake pipe was damaged where it had been rubbing against the abs unit..

its been a bit flat when cold recently so thought i`d try the air filter.

just need the suzuki sport duct and remove part of the grill now to get more air to it.

yeah but whats the top of the standard dampers like? i cant remember. lol

if they have a holes/bush that bolts straight onto the top mount cup then i dont mind as long as i dont have to compress the springs and mess around with it mate.

yeah the air filters made a difference on ignis, pulls smoother now.

a lad on ignis owners is a motorsport student hes been testing intakes on his ignis as a project. (hes already got scorpion backbox and homemade unsilenced centre section)

standard filter and intake made 112bhp@6750rpm so exhaust has already made 5bhp over standard

bmc panel filter made 113@6563rpm so a gain of 1bhp over standard and peak power at lower rpm for some reason.

he then made an intake duct similar to the suzuki sport one and with a k&n 57i it made 115bhp.

so thats the route im gona take with the intake side of the engine, just need to find a suzuki sport intake now. which are rare lol

as for exhaust im hopefully buying a japspeed 4-1 manifold and scorpion backbox then have a middle section made by longlife or something, hopefully be 120bhp then.

top od the tamper has a bolt hope with a bush in it that bolts tot he very top of that cup in the pic, the spring sits in a big round bush, ill need that bush too :P

mind think i have my old ones

ive found the spring is quite slack once you raise it up, and once you undo that middle bolt it will just fall out, fitting is the same, slightly compressing it when you lift the shock into place

umm

seems to be like a carb to me, if you stick a massive air folter on a smaller carbed engine they get drowned with too much air and it slows them down (used to happen on my scooter lmao) fitting the smaller right sized one makes it better

maybe its a similar case with this?!?!

just speculating tbh

are you happy to have 120bhp?

its alot of money for 10 bhp...

ugh lol will have a dig through my old photobucket, just for you special boy :D

£400 is brilliant, im not saying it aint all about power but your hoping for 120 bhp from your roughly 120, that exhaust list you just said will cost well over £500.. for 10bhp more thats quite alot all im saying was just asking is that worth it to you :)

noo a local lad is selling the manifold and scorpion backbox mate, its brand second hand. the manifold look pretty beasty. lol so all i will need is a custom middle section.

:D go for it san

anyway here we go, deep in my old account lol

fronts with bearing tops

Image

bush stays on the car, so you leave yours in for me :)

Image

ugh only found the front in my pics

heres the rear shocks yes?
Image

top of the spring sits in a bush like this (floflex one)
Image

and that then sits into this cup and botls in with the big 17/18mm bolt
Image

then the whole shock goes up into the turret and bolts in using the 2 13mm bolts

if your just changing the shock and/or spring, you can undo the big 17/18mm blt and drop the shock out and it will come out like this...

Image

the bush will cling to the cup if its a standard rubber one

*catch breath* :P

ahh i see now.

i dont mind fitting them mate as long as you supply the rubber bush. and i can just bolt the fronts straight on.

how the hell your top mounts are still going mine lasted about a month with the coilovers.

once ive sold my coilovers i will be buying the exhaust..

might have a new set of wheels lined up as well, quite light 6.5J ET38

Lmao my floflexs are great, but harsh though, you know me I want refinement, but I don't want to lose this spotty feeling and great handling

I have a spare rear bush pair, didn't seem too old either

not getting them rotas now?

well today the ignis finally got to meet jonys si.

he popped up earlier on to see my fiesta, as some of you may know hes taking over ownership from me. :) so it will live on!

anyway i had a little drive of his fiesta, which brought back many memories for me lol havent driven an si for about 2 years now, and i even scared him in his own car lol

anyway so we went for a little blast to newport to pick up some new tyres for him and it went well, especially top end.

then we met up with one of the lads off zsoc whos got a lovely puma'd mk4 fiesta with bike carbs and cams in it. which sounded lovely, he took jony for a spin in it and it sounded lovely going up the road. jony looked pretty pale when he got and was shaking like a leaf lol

anyway after a short chat about fiesta which ended up lasting about two hours lol we headed back.

i then took jony for a blast in the ignis.. over the twisty mountains lol jony was once again crapping his pants and holding on for dear life lol he even had his hands over his eyes for a bit lol, i think its safe to say the paradas have bedded in nicely, and that jony now knows how good the ignis handles lmao. he was much happier when we hit the traffic and cruised for a bit lol.

anyway, we went back and had a small photoshoot...

both cars were absolutely stinking lol

anyway after another long but meant to be short chat lol we headed our separate ways, convieniently having a little play before we split up and headed in different directions, i managed to stay with the fiesta in 1st 2nd and 3rd, but i cant see little ignis keeping up after 100mph. the fiestas bigger engine just keeps pulling and the ignis' short gearbox lets it down up top end. although we didnt have a long enough bit of road to test that theory.
