if your going to the hassle of putting a zetec in put a 2.0 in. the 1.6 is a turd frankly for tuning. past a superchip and and exhaust for some snap crackle and pop its not worth touching. you will literally be flushing your coin down the pan. not only that if you decide to tune at a later date youll have a better starting base.

std 2.0 is around 130 brake of reliable power. i know someones going to bitch. yes you can do the 130 spec 1.8 thing but the extra displacement gives a handy increase in torque which in the real world will do you more good. and compared to a 1.4 will feel like a rocketship. but in comparison to all things modern its pretty reasonable. given the choice i'd go zetec over cvh any day of the week. CVH turbos dont seem to do too bad, those get looked after generally but the CVH's fitted to XR's seem to have the arse spanked out of them. so its only going to be a cheaper bet if you find one thats not had the arse raped out of it or thats not a smoker. good luck on that one.

for the sake of a mount. changing the rad and water pipes, power steering pipes, downpipe, and engine loom which isnt as bad as it sounds. youl have a much better conversion.

hope that helps. ;)

Jam.

jams right about xr's most get rapped some lucky ones get cherished that succumb to rot get the engines removed but theyre gettign hard to find, and you wont know untill its fitted if its good or bad

im not saying go zetec instead but just needs to be considered

danny andy didnt bodge the wiring at all, he altered the multi plug so it meets the needs of a zetec engine, if you aint read it dont moan lol

andys guide really has it all for fitting the 2.0, the engine mount is fine, you need to drill a hole a tad forward of the cvh one and the engine mount fits to the bracket fine

glad you have plans squared away, if you want to go cvh do it, dont have someone talk you out of it, 115bhp is more than enough after coming from 75bhp, and after a decent exhaust and filter it be pushing past 120 with ease :D

cant wait to see what the wheels look like..

mad colours the way forward now, im gona be doing that with the ignis.

as for zetec conversion.

you need to drill one hole in the rear mount. thats it then it fits.

you dont need the front mount, just use cvh alternator bracket, front mount would help it a bit but my mate ran a 2.1 zetec turbo in s2 erst without front engine mount running 280bhp and he had no probs as you have the mounts on the gearbox cradle to steady it.

so thats how the engine mounts in, use 1.4 box and shafts etc..

as for loom use 1.6 si loom and change plugs. aparently its easy. blunty knows how to do it i believe, we spoke about it before as he put the 1.4 engine from si into his mk2 fiesta.

i have my 1.8 lump for sale along with a lot of conversion parts..

personally think you should turbo it ... ive got everything you need and it will all fit with no mods  thats a slight lie due to the front mount and exhaust but thats nothing lol also you have room for the huge air filter due to the battery being at the back of the bay so it will be insanely good !!! do it do it do it !!! :halo:

jam, you know too much :P but thanks for the advice, 2.0l certainly seems a better bet. and ur damn right, my 1.4 is wayyy too slow, cant keep up with a honda jazz, let alone other 'car enthusiasts/boy racers)... so a few days has passed and ive decided to go the mondeo 2.0l route, louis did mention the focus st170 engine, but i think that will be too much work for me.

sam sorry to let you down but zetec seems to be the way foward and no chance do i have the wonga for a bloody turbo :P nor the time to keep on top of looking after it! im no dave by any measure!

im going scrappy on sunday to have a look around... jonny, i will get in touch about shit i need but ill make up a list etc... im led to believe i need the 1.6 si sump too?

seems pretty straight foward :D so ill start building up the bits.. louis, was going to actually say you'll have to come help... any of the other notherners too (percy and paul and anyone else!)

very excited about this. preferably want to get a better gearbox just for reliability really so ill want an alternative to my 1.4.

oh n brakes ill need to sort... so ill make alist later of what i need then people can tell me where ive gone wrong n what i need :P when it comes around ill be taking like a week off work to get it done lol... cannot wait.

If you go in the guides section there is a thread called something like 2.0 into your fsi, thats got a mini list of parts you will need, other than that look at andys guide on fiesta guides, should have everything on there :)
