Mapping without a wideband is asking for trouble anyway

I will be mapping the current engine with megasquirt and wideband so in theory the ZT lump will fire up on that map, then all I need to do is make adjustments to make it within tolerable air/fuel ratios.

Before the ZT goes in, I want to get the current lump RR'd on standard ECU and then on Megasquirt to see how much difference it makes. Standard 2.0ltr on megasquirt push out 140bhp.

Heres some insight into Turbo builds. Friend came up with it and its epic.

Cheap
Reliable
Fast



Can't wait to see how it all turns out, i'll look into it over time and might whack a blacktop turbo in in 2013, or sooner if it goes bang AGAIN

Mine will be reliable because I'll be anal on the cooling systems for oil and water, and making sure I don't go overboard with boost. Proper engine heating and cooling before and after a journey etc.

I'm toying with an electric water pump, I was going to get one on the ka project... they pump the water speed vs temperature not at rpm, so for example.. you slow at a junction it will keep pumping fast vs a normal water pump which will slow to rpm idle speed. Which on a zetec is handy IMO!

Was also toying with an electric pas pump, but tbh no need. Just me being fancy.

I'm looking forward to it, but I've got a long way yet.

Bodywork
Intake trumpets
Squirt on na
Wideband on na
Oil cooler system
Gauges for oil temp, oil pressure, water pressure, volts, and boost ready in position.

Then build the engine, then one weekend of fitting. Lol

140 on MS is pretty good over standard, in a fiesta it be about 128 on a deep etc

But I never trust figures anyway, so I'm gonna get it RR'd on standard ECU and then MS afterward to show the difference.
Will have wideband plugged into the RR too to show my fuel/air ratio.

Deep, desk and dewy ecu's are meant to give you 136bhp, that 128bhp figure can be down to all sorts of other resrictive things, not the ecu j-boy

136ps - 134.13951562bhp to be technical. Then factor in losses and the fact no engine is as good as they say.

200bhp easily with that, may even get 230bhp easily, maybe more! the airtec/auto specialist/devil development fiesta puts out something like 260 odd on 13psi, pretty sure thats a zetec. cant remember, might be completely different setup mind, but 200-230 is probably easy to get

I don't want to push it to its limits being a Decomp setup, so I'm happy to hit the 200 barrier.

Soon as I affect reliability it'll be a ballache.

Hopefully my cooling systems will keep it all fine and dandy, specially the water pump setup

Yeah I can see where you are coming from, it should good when its done.

I just thought about the water pump, put some sort of LED in the dash so you know its still on and pumping, you dont want to have an electronic fault with it and to do over the engine lol

Good point.. I will be getting a controller for it as well so I can adjust the pump, like for on track it something.
