nah man its yamaha, which if you think about it makes perfect sense, theyre best at making bikes, and a bike would never go through the normal strsses a car would

again thats why there quite revvy and powerful, like most sports bikes, but are made of cheese and crackers lol

the killer in the Sigma's design is the cast crank bearing shims, once they fail you cannot replace them, theyd dint rectify this untill either the mk6 or 6.5!!!

quite literally a throw away engine

but while theyre working they do make the power of something bigger, the 1.25 makes 1.4 CVH power, the 1.4 makes 1.6 Zetec e power, puma 1.7 is a touch off RS1800 power

but like most jap engines they lack torque

my engine makes healthy amount of torque, thats why i know id LOOOVE a 2.0 for that :P

sorry essay again :(

GULP

was thinking of adam b doing that, theres alot to do in that, silly things like the fly-by-wire setup that engine uses, so you'd need to convert from a cable throttle to a electrical wire set up

could be as easy as simply fitting a mk6 pedal box, hmm

home come your considering that then?

Mates got one in his ZS and he's selling up. Devil Developments can take it out of his and fit it in mine, its all mapped up and ready to go on 18k.

Cost me a pretty penny but should see me a few years of easy motoring and would be epically fast. 161bhp and 161ft/lbs at one RR I think and about 155bhp and same torque at another.

Either way, would be seriously quick. I've seen it go and it was fassst it wobbled everywhere

would be reliable but ask yourself is it worth the money for roughly 10bhp more?

sound like that conversion would be atleast a grand, not including the engine :(

It's not just the BHP its the torque and the way it'll deliver it, it'll be brutal compared to what I have now and will be more day to day driveable with the power not just being top end.

Will see how it goes but its an option that I am tempted with.

It would cost me overall £1800 for the full conversion not including labour on the swap, but he reckons he could get it free as he's pretty close with the owner, if it costs loads on top I ain't doing it.

But it would be 100% worth the cash to just have the engine I aim to have eventually anyway in the car and I can just enjoy it for a year or two without the worry of the engine being strained and dying.

it would be far more tuneable engine!

they see over 300ponies with a supercharger, and with those trick cossie inlets and few other bits and pieces they go over 200bhp nicely :)

Exactly.

I don't plan on getting rid of the car anytime soon. the only thing I would need is more power over the years..

my advice, quickly find a new 1.6 se, wack it in with your cams

actually no do its headgasket and bolts first to stop it popping from the cams, then run it around happy dappy, then safe for that duratec?

unless you have the dosh soonish

Duratec conversion would be awesome. Getting popular in the ZS world now.

I have already sorted out a deal with money with him.

He has his car up for sale, if it doesn't get bought fast then its being broken, he's a good friend and tbh with the engine sold I think he'd just break it anyway.

I already have a buyer for the cams. I will have loads of odd bits worth a couple hundred left over once the swap has taken place and we've got a deal on money.

So money isn't the issue

It's just whether I want to spend all that money on it, which I know one day i'll want to do anyway, and I think this one big lump will stop me spending loads of small (and large) amounts on a weak 1.6 engine. Because as you say, they literally are throw away engines and I can't keep swapping. Buy cheap, buy twice.

Its a shame to think when you got this car was a nice car you spent a lot on it now i guess now this could be the second engine :(

Stop your squabbling boy and do it lol
Dtec engines respond well to minor modifications and as you said more torque which imo is what makes a car feel fast.
If i was in your position and had the money it would be done lol.

You should get all stuff like this done before you have your own house and family, im only 25 and have all that, i dont struggle but i cant really spend large amounts of money on engine conversions lol

Yeah thats what I am thinking.

I certainly don't have the money! But I have a plan.

Might as well dump it in, just hoping it will be reliable and wont break like everything else I seem to do!

It wont get modified i'll just concerntrate on making the car look the part. Need some polybushes though

only thing is chris its 1800 plus labour and stuff for another 10bhp?? is it really worth it.

i supposed they are a better more reliable engine and more tunable and its different.

i would do it though, like lou said you gotta do it now whilst you havent got other things in life like a house and stuff.

thats the reason im selling my fiesta parts, theres no point in me having two cars ive figured so ill just put money from fiesta into the ignis and make one quick reliable car which i can use on track and everyday.. then put my wages and saving towards the new house like.. then bit by bit save and make the ignis faster and better, as, like you, im not planning on getting rid of it soon.

just keep it and make it a beast mate!
