on the side of the throttle body,controls the air goin in the engine, i cleaned mine up a few months ago coz my car kept cuttin out, apparently its suposed to be cleaned everytime the car is serviced

cleaned my maf the other day in college. only the 1 wire was dirty so i cleaned that with a cotton bud with nail varnish remover on it, then with brake cleaner.

seems 2 run smoother now! and seems quieter.

The best thing I cn think of for using to clean the MAF or any engine sensor for that matter is IPA (Iso-Propyl Alcohol) It evaporate completly and therefore doesn't leave any residue, but is very effective at removing most contaminants!

Can be had from Maplins for a few quid!

My contacts were black after air filter problems.

I just used a cotton bud with no cleaner, removed all the dirt fine, it runs and pulls like a dream now.

Hi Hog,

I would use IPA on a cotton wool ball as its soft enough to do no damage but will scour enough to clean up. Just remember to keep changing them as they'll get pretty mockit pretty quickly
