Yeah sucks

Im topping it up with pre-mixed stuff, I have been doing water the last few days but im going to get some more anti-freeze soon and top it up. I think I probably re-fill the header tank every morning, so thats just over a litre easily. I know when its run out of water or is at least low, because the temp gauge goes up more than normal and cold air starts coming through the vents lol.

With regards to the engine freezing, it might do, hopefully not, but I keep it in a garage over night and thats generally warmer than the outside temps, especially if ive taken the car for a long drive before I put it away. So hopefully that should help prevent it freezing lol.

Hopefully it will last me another month or more, its been like it for nearly 2 months now if not more. We shall see!

damnnn, glad your doing it properly and not jst throwing the 2.0l in, more problems in the long run then.

crap thats unfortunate, there goes your resale value of the 1.6

glad your not panicing and in a rush to fit the 2.0, you still have your work van? run around in that if need be

might even be worth sorting the 1.6 after its out to sell on or just keep as a spare

haha i know what you mean about the temp gauge and cold air

Yeah cossie one. It would get destroyed on my car in seconds. Plus I've gone off them slightly.

Work van was something that happened early this year, little vauxhall combo van. It was rotten, so rotten that the only thing holding it together was the body work I think, it kinda got donated to me, I got rid of it in no time, it would have killed me :lol:

My engine is a bag of laughs at the moment :doh:

Went to take the mrs home last night after we chilled at mine and watched a film... 15 attempts it took to start it, and that wasn't even turning the engine over, it kept locking up. My guess is water in the cylinders, water can't be compressed, try start, no go. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I think if it does it from now on, spark plugs out, turn it over, plugs in, GO!

Hopefully :lol:

Also, new engine shiz... well that needs to be put in ASAP, but, I've just been made redundant. Which is amazing. So if this engine goes, I dunno what I'm going to do

I have asked for money this xmas, so whatever money I get will be going on parts for the engine. If I can get everything I need and get it sorted, then I will see if anyone has an engine crane I can borrow for a couple of days or have to rent one, slap the new engine in and it should be good to go.

Nah I would just rather do it properly, hassle free. Done it the hard way before a few times... fuck that. Engine crane, take time, make perfect, simple.
