hey all

i'm thinking of swapping out the HO for the GTI inlet on my 1.8 zetec fezza. as i heard it has better resistance against heat soak, i already have the inlet manifold, but it doesnt have provisions for a inlet temp sensor... will i then have to find an ext. pats ecu/engine loom or can i use the rs1800 loom i got and mount a temp sensor somewhere?

cheers

You sure the gti manifold will fit due to the brake bar and bulkhead?

All you'd need to do is make a hole for the inlet sensor, and run your normal loom.

But just stick with the ho inlet.

If it hits your strut brace, something is wrong.

he's worried about the heat soak as the inlet pipe goes over the engine and can heat up the air travelling in, as where the plastic inlet has very good flow and can be used in turbo applications too! and also diverts the air intake around the engine, but i think you need to remove the battery and place it elsewhere in the boot or foot well etc

Hmmm. Fair enough I guess.
Cold air feeds and a better placed air filter would be good enough IMO.

lol yep omp brace, how did you guess????

i also want to use the GTI as the inlet pipe is quite large (70mm iirc) to match the ports on the maf and inlet which is hitting the bonnet and wont close fully...

i can work out the filter arrangement after... fit a fully cased filter with cold feed pipe into the si bumper somewhere...

Because the OMP one isn't made for Zetecs, despite being sold for them. I found this out the hard way when mine rubbed on my inlet manifold and shook the car to bits. Had to ditch it. The angle on the brace isn't enough to comfortably clear the inlet. There's been a couple of people that have said they fitted one with no rubbing, but it must have been tight.
