I''ve started to take all the plugs and pipes off ready to take the engine out. The Haynes manual says step 7 - "release the fuel feed and return quick-release couplings, and pull the hoses off the fuel pipes. Plug or cap all open fittings." What should i use to plug the connection?

I put some petrol in the other day so will all the petrol come out of these couplings if i dont plug the lines or just the bit that is already in the pipe? i put a tray down but none of the fuel which came out (before i quickly re-connected the couplings again) ended up in the tray.

any tips?

I'm just going to keep going with it but i'm guessing half the things and hoping for the best :)

remove/undo... Wiring, water pipes, fuel pipes, clutch cable, throttle cable, drop exhaust off
with engine crane attached.. undo front engine mount, undo engine mount on drivers side (2 bolts, one accessed from inside the wheel arch) undo the 4 bolts holding gearbox cradle, drop down... thats about it I think lol

yeah i think the haynes manual makes it sound more confusig that it is, i'm just gonna unplug everything and label it as well as i can so i can put it back together again.

going back to the original question, is the quick release coupling on the fuel feeds below the clips? thats all i can see but was wondering if i had disconnected it at the wrong place making more petrol to come out.

Don't worry about the Haynes seeming confusing, it often is, and it often does things the longest way possible. Just get stuck in and undo anything you can see in the way :)

Anything stopping you getting the engine out.. detach it, label it, then get the engine out :)
