thought id make a thread for my fathers 1969 capri, as hes starting to get very creative with it lately, he has owned it for roughly 6 years, after buying it from a scrap yard, it was on death row, with only a week to go before being weighed in, it was the yards owners neglected project, he himself owns a mk1 escort van with a 2.0 pinto in.
after spending about 2 years restoring it at a weekend job pace, hes just enjoyed driving it a the weekends and taking it to classic car shows
the restoration involved under body welding as expected, new components like suspension, steering and a 1.6 pinto conversion due to the original engine being a paperweight, the said engine was removed from his at the time written of mk3 capri lazer after some daft woman side-swiped him at a junction
the restoration also in part involved a complete respray and complete underbody painting, the car was bought with a two tone green/yellow paint job, in a starsky and hutch inspired look, looked stupid and it also had a yellow bonnet with a offset bonnet vent like a mini scooby vent
(i will upload older pictures when i find some, here)
this is how it stands atm, pics are from a local classic carshow

up untill now the car has just been used and loved, but lately my old man has began getting more adventurous with it, so i want to keep a log for him
his mate was breaking a P100 that he had some recaro seats from a mk5 RS2000, so he bought them off him and i assisted in fitting them for him, by welding in a mounting block for the sierra seat runners to mount on, these seats were replacing his older Astra GTE half leather/wool recaro's

(i will find pics of the old gte recaro's)
the back end is lowered on blocks, and Koni dampers were recently added, front end as far as im aware is standard, you understand how hard it is finding lowered springs for these cars

sitting on period Rossstyle steel wheels that he painted to be like they are best known
a few months ago the bonnet opened at motorway speeds which is not uncommon amoung older cars due to rubbish hatch designs
and the bonnet, scuttle panel and hinges were damaged, the hinges were replace but the car is booked in at a local bodyshop in december for a replacement bonnet sprayed and fitted, and also the scuttle panel to be repaired

Just today he took delivery of these refurbished austin princess 2.2 front 4 pot calipers, these stunning, and come complete with new bolts, spacers and pins etc

colour opinions?
i will upload more pics as i find them
plans for the future are not really known, but im desperately trying to convince him to convert to a zetec, 1.8 or 2.0
he has a fibreglass front lower splitter to paint and fit, in the style of a RS3100
