Fiesta-Si.com • View topic - What tyres do you run?
I used to have yokohama s drives on my gti wheels in 195/45r15, they were pretty good considering they cost me nothing, ive also had khumos, which were brilliant after acouple hundred miles, and even betterwhen the tread was near the limit, im currently useing nexens on the rear that i got from a scrap yard, they're a little bit of a hard compound but they do last a very long time, worst tyre i've used is probably a GT radial, terrible for wet grip, loads of road noise and hasn't lastedmelong at all, ive used falkens before and for the money, they're one of the best tyres all round including price
Has anyone used Regal Racers? talking to a lad yesterday who told me about them (never heard of them before yesterday) and he said there a really good tyre despite the name and apparently there made by Dunlop

I have had many different tyres over the 4 years of driving so far, all from cheap tyres to more expensives ones, I am currently running nankang ns2's, purely because parada spec 2's arent available in 45 profile anymore. Parads spec 2's though, best tyre I have ever owned in wet and dry conditions and I would have liked to have them again.
My review on them.
Dry: Grip is good, very good infact. Very grippy on tracks too. Road noise is quiet, tyre wear so far seems to be good too - even on the inner edges on my car which lets face is is very low.
Wet/Greasy roads: Well, I haven't really had much experience of them in the wet yet, and when it is raining, I dont drive like a penis at all so dont really push them. But I have taken them out in the rain and they do seem to cope quite well. I have read many mixed reviews of them in the wet. I have had a few moments of understeer with them but nothing that cant be easily sorted. Those times of understeer was on very greasy bits of road too.
With the winter coming up, I will have a better review on the wet road handling of them, and also cold road temperature too.
I would probably buy these again. I would also recommend them to anyone who has a tight-ish budget too.
I have Nankang NS2's on mine as they were the best package available for my budget when I bought my new wheels. And my mate had them on his Subaru so I knew they were actually a really good tyre (especially for the price)! They're not going to knock the socks off the competition, but they certainly do the job. I HAVE been pushing mine quite hard lately, in the dry I cannot get these to let go. They've squeeled but not let go.
In the rain, I'm a bit cautious of them going round corners. They have a tendancy to slide sideways. But in a straight line it doesn't take much for them to get the grip back after spinning all 4 wheels.
Overall I'm massively impressed with them for the price, and would get them again!

the nankangs are pretty grippy, had them on my fiesta once. not amazing but they do hold the road quite well for the money...
Had Avon ZV5s on ignis. Fooking Awesome Tyre, superb wet and dry grip!! better than toyos (although my dad disagrees) drove a bit funny on them though because they had been on the back for like 25k!! so were a bit stepped and worn unevenly (common thing with avons though)
didnt last much longer once i stuck em on the front though, were on about 3-4mm, i gave them a pasting and the lasted about a month..
done 8000 miles on the toyos on front done 8000 miles on roadstones on front
hoopefully gona get some yoko paradas to try soon..

A few of the Pulsar lads had R888's on for a while. Don't expect ANY kind of grip in the wet, and in the dry don't expect them to last more than 8k at most

I've just read up on them (AD08's) and apparently they are like bars of soap in the wet, but quite good in the summer when it's dry or damp. though when they get to around 4mm left they are useless, and have a lifespan of around 6k.
Pilot's it is.

recently fitted a pair of Uniroyal rainexperts to the front and rainsport 2's to the back
best tyre i have had, grip in the wet is phenominal! you'd not even think it was wet
theres this sharp left hander heading onto the motorway with a wide runoff, which gives me the confedance to go wild on it, in the dry i can manage a max of 55mph round there befor ei get understeer and lose my grip a bit, thats with 1/3rd throttle
i managed to do 50mph and still wasnt slipping in the wet today, could have managed 55 liek the dry i reckon..
goes to show how good in the wet these are
dry grip is also very good, especially for a rain tyre, prices are good too, new your looking between £48 and £53 both online and at a dealer
tyre in question was a 195/50/15 for both rainexpert and rainsport 2

Super snow, last night size was horrendous, saw couple of 4x4 even struggling lol. I need to investigate how well the 300mm brakes sit under 16" wheels because id like to drop a size and get chunkier winter tyres.
