How much did you pay or the oil la? I never buy fully synth, like a bit of the cheap mineral mix!

Surely if you drive sensibly you could get 40 mpg + ???

Yeah I think I could get above the magical 40mpg barrier if I tried. We'll have to wait and see. Not been able to drive my car Since Tuesday. On and off with it starting since Sixfields.

Borrowing a new main relay later on to try that out. Though I have took out the old one and re-soldered it. which seem to work for a day or so.

If not then I'm going to check the distributor and rotar arm, then if not I'll check the fuel filter and fuel lines. It will be something pissy, but at least I know now that it isn't simply when the car is warm. Just annoying as I don't really have much time or daylight hours to inspect it properly yet.

Will make sure you get a passenger ride next time Terry! Op - I think my oil was around £55 delivered. I can't skimp on oil anymore due to all the extra heat the engine produces.

bit late on the whole clutch issue but ... my 4 paddle clutch is pretty easy to live with. not toooooo harsh but definitely on/off compared to standard. it is worth doing  although i did lose all street cred the other day when i stalled doing a hill start

 Bless!

I just couldn't live with it. I hate my car when I'm stuck on the M6 as it is. The heavy clutch gets to me eventually, and having a paddle clutch in my car when it's a regular traffic sitter isn't the best idea.

I've not bought a new clutch yet as I'm waiting for next month once I'm back from hols to get a lightened flywheel and engine mount with it. Can't be bothered with the hassle of having the existing flywheel re-skimmed.

I'm most probably having a custom 6 paddle setup peiced together by my tuner which will handle 400 lb/ft - It will be a little stiffer and engagement will be a little more on/off, but I don't mind, however there is a certain LSD clutch that I'm looking into at the minute too which isn't a paddle.

Still have no car. Drive it places where I know I don't need to turn the car off and back on, but I've got one last thing to check and then if it's not that it will be a deeper immobiliser check, rotor arm, cap, coil, ht leads, starter motor - As it has to be one of these things.

I'm not too bothered with it, I have a lift to work and back and Fi's car in the evenings if needed. I've been through worse (blown up engine anyone?) but it's an annoying case of eliminating each possible cause one at a time, starting with the free/cheapest parts...

I feel your pain dude, I really do. Just one of those horrible problems that's hard to pin point.

Closer there Sam, the less paddles the harsher, as the clamping force is larger in the smaller area ;)

It has an ignition coil alongside the distributor. I hope by modern Japanese you don't mean an engine produced in 1995, which is part of the B-series engine design originally released in the mid 80's :P Hardly modern! Well not in my eyes. The K-Series Honda engine, now that is modern.

zetecs are early 90s and they also have coils

aye i know i ment coilpack that runs the plugs

what i mean is for a reliable jap car id not have expected old unreliable dizzies which need yearly maintenance :o
