ive managed to source a free 2litre, condition unknown.

picked it up this morning, externally it does look a bit...................................well, shit!

it has no timing belt (i knew this before picking it up)

ive removed the head from the block, there is orange rusty water in all the spark plug holes, the underside of the head is dry, valves need a good clean but i can see no damage, the block had a gasket stamped OE on it so i'd guess its been changed at some point.

some crud on 3 cylinders but no other obvious damage, on cylinder 2 there is some of the before mention orange rusty water, not really sure how it got there because as i mentioned earlier the underside of the head is dry and there is no water anywhere else on the top of the block!

ive nothing to loose trying the engine do you think it'll run?

ps none of the cylinders were at TDC so if the belt had snapped i'd have thought they woundn't/didn't make contact with the valves, then again i may be talking complete drivel! :lol:

the "new" engine is stripped, got to remove the duff 1 and reassemble the new'un.

the new block is covered in rust etc, cleaned it off best i can but its still a mess (cosmtic only), would prefer it be tidier than it is before fitting but i'll probably just put it in as is.
